4 Timing: Season  Starts: First Week of Practice!  Monday, 11/18 thru Saturday 11/23  Ends: Saturday, 3/01/13 = State Indoor T&F Championships Meets Girls - all schools run together  Two events per athlete only Boys – schools divided into two divisions  LC boys run in Division II (smaller schools)  One event per athlete only PTFCA State Indoor Track & Field Championships  Girls & Boys all run against their gender regardless of school size

7 Indoor Meet Rules! #8. NO FOOD, DRINK, RADIOS, TV's, RECORDING DEVICES OR TAPE DECKS AT ANYTIME IN THE FACILITIES WHERE WE COMPETE. If a coach, a manager, or member of a team is found with any of these items in a facility, or breaking any other rule in our rules and regulations, the following will occur; (a) 1st offense - Suspension of the person or persons from competition that day. (if they have already competed, suspension from the next meet that the team attends). (b) 2nd offense – suspension of the team from the next association meet (which would include the novice or Meet of Champs if that were next) (c) 3rd offense - Suspension of the team from further competition for the remainder of the season which includes the Meet of Champs and the Novice Meet. Money will be refunded (only upon school request) on a pro-rated basis. #9. Greater effort must be made to keep the parking lots clean. Check your area around your bus or car before leaving. You are responsible for the actions of your team while they are at your bus or vehicle

8 Procedures & Fees: Forms  PIAA Medical Form Physicals must be completed prior to 1 st day of practice  Nova-Care Emergency Medical form Medical & Emergency forms can be found online Due: 1 st day of practice to Coach Spiers only! Sport Fees ALL Athletic Fees are sent directly to the Tuition Office. There is a coupon in the tuition booklet. Team Warm-Up Package  Will be available and order forms online in Moodle!

9 Practice Where  Outside – Sun, Rain or Snow (Dress Appropriately)  Inside – Exception Basis How Often  Daily 2:50 to 5:00 or 5:30 pm Looking for athletes will to make sacrifices to make practices a priority Exceptions will be looked at but I must have advance notice (e.g. Doctors appointments, misc. conflicts) To get better you have to train consistently!

10 Sickness/Injury/Training Effort Sickness  Proper diet, rest & wash your hands!  Keep me informed (I can’t plan without knowing) How long anticipated being out Doctor(s) visit Injuries  Most arise from inconsistent training Recovery days are incorporated with challenging days  Horsing around (e.g. throwing implements, jumping on pits, flag football in mud, etc.) Training effort (lack there of) Poor performances, unaccountability, contagious negative attitudes

11 RULE FOUR (4) unapproved missed practices will result in expulsion from the team. SEE NEXT SLIDE

13 What They Need – Daily PRACTICE Pack your bag the night before!  Running shoes/running socks (or shoes for your event)  Running pants/sweats/spandex – or both  Long-sleeve shirt/sweatshirt/jacket We will be in the cold, pack a dry shirt to change into after workout  Hat & gloves  Snack/WATER!!!  Digital watch (if running)
