2 Viperfish Background Their scientific name is Chauliodus sloani They belong to the Kingdom Animalia They belong to the phylum Chordata They belong to the class Actinopterygii They grow up to 11-12 in long There are 27 species

3 What do humans use them for Humans don't really use the viperfish because they are so deep down in the ocean, they are hard to caught We also don't know a lot about the species yet

4 Interesting Fact In the dark, other fish can't see it's mouth It turns into an unseen trap They are either Green, Silver, or black The organ they use that produces the light is called a photophore.

5 Habitats They live 5,000 ft below They come up to 2,000 ft when food in plentiful They are found all over the world in tropical waters

6 How do they feed Can go days without eatting It eats shrimp, squid, hermit crabs, anchovies, and other small fish Goes up to 2,000 feet to caught prey because there is more fish the higher up you go They use a light to attract fish to them and then grab them with their huge teeth and jaws.
