2 Mary Stuart (Mary, Queen of Scots)  Daughter of James (V) Stewart and Mary of Guise  Became queen when she was one week old  Sent to France at an early age  1558 – marriage to the dauphin of France  After husband’s death, Mary returned to Scotland  1565 – marriage to her first cousin, lord Darnley  1576 – Danley was found murdered

3 Mary Stuart  Marriage to the 4th Earl of Bothwell  Uprising against the couple  Imprisonment in Loch Leven Castle  Forced to abdicate – unsuccessful attempt  Seeking the protection of Elizabeth I  18,5 years in custody  Was found guilty and executed
