3. What is an armistice? An armistice is a contract signed between countries to stop fighting. It ends hostilities between armies in time of war. For example: It’s a contract signed between Germany and the Allied nations for the peace in 1918.

On May 26 th, 1954, Dwight Eisenhower, the US President, signed the Act to confirm the change. The day officially becomes a day to honor American veterans of all wars.
