25 General facts  Located in a generous space, Garboavele Forest, The Village Museum - traditional household restores the type of rustic house specific for our area.  The Museum includes three households from Galati area, Corod, Mastacani and Cavadinesti localities, and a traditional household from Cahul District, Republic of Moldova. The architecture of the houses from Galati area corresponds to the 19th century, while Cahul household is specific for the 20th century.  The project Village Museum - Traditional Household was realized within the Neighbourhood Programme Romania - Moldova 2004 - 2006 by Galati County Council with its partners The Cultural Centre "Lower Danube" Galati and Cahul Museum, Republic of Moldova.

Corod Household - House with hiding place (with porch and room) and cellar - Chimnita - made of wooden bars and used for storing vegetables, fruits and containers for processing and storing the wine - Cosar - made of wattle, wooden structure and thatched roof, used for storing grains (corn). 2. Mastacani Household - Bicellular house (with porch and room) - "Casoiul" - Bicellular house (with porch and room) usually of small dimensions and used by the elderly members of the family. - "Cosar" - made of wattle, wooden structure and used for storing the grains (corn). The roof has an extension of one side used as shelter for various tools and harnesses. - Saia - circular shelter built exclusively for sheep. The "saia" has wattled walls, wooden structure and thatched roof. - "Patul" for birds.

Cavadinesti Household - House with hiding place (with porch and room) - "Samaluc" - an elliptic annex to the house made of three rooms used for sheltering big animals (horses and cattle), hay and as pottery workshop. The room used for the animals has clay covered walls in order to ensure the ventilation of the space. - "Saia" - circular shelter built exclusively for sheep. The "saia" has wattled walls, wood structure and thatched roof. - Shelter for the grinder - used for grinding grains, it is made of wattle, covered with clay and has a thatched roof. 4. Cahul Household - Tricellular house - with central porch, is a replica of the traditional house that can be found in the Museum of Cahul. Unlike the households of Galati County, Cahul household represents the type of rustic house specific for the 20th century. - Cahul household inludes as annex a blacksmith's workshop.
