1 FIGHTING Rule 4.18 & 10.4 DEFINITION Fighting is a FLAGRANT ACT and can occur when the ball is Dead or Live Fighting includes, but is not limited to, combative acts such as: ARTICLE 1: “An attempt to strike, punch, kick an opponent with a fist, hand, arm, leg, or foot – regardless of whether contact is made” ARTICLE 2: “An ATTEMPT to INSTIGATE a fight by committing an unsportsmanlike act toward an opponent that causes an opponent to retaliate by fighting

2 FIGHTING Rule 4.18 & 10.4 FIGHTING RULES TO REMEMBER Anyone who fights or instigates a fight has committed a flagrant foul If players fight during a Live ball, the fouls are Flagrant Personal fouls If players fight during a Dead ball, the fouls are Flagrant Technical fouls Flagrant means EJECTION Anyone who leaves the bench area during a fight or when a fight MAY break out has committed a Flagrant Technical Foul The Head Coach may enter the Court, if Beckoned Bench personnel who leave the bench during a fight are categorized as FIGHTERS & NON-FIGHTERS Regardless of the category…. Anyone who leaves the Bench area commits a Flagrant Technical Foul

3 The Head Coach is charged with ONLY one Indirect Technical, for ALL Bench Personnel who enter the court buy do not fight The Head Coach is charged with One Indirect Technical Foul for Each Person who Enters and Fights So the Coach is penalized MORE if non-fighters become fighters. All (Other than Indirect T Fouls charged to head coach) Count as Team Fouls {Personal & Technical})

4 FIGHTING Rule 4.18 & 10.4 CLARIFICATION: If only one person leaves the bench and enters the court and fights, he is charged with a Flagrant Tech Foul and the Coach is charged with ONE Indirect Technical Foul The team member is NOT charged with one T for leaving and another for fighting NOTE: Rule 10.4.5 added that bench personnel will be charged with a flagrant foul if they leave the confines of the bench when a fight may break out.
