Aerobic Exercise An Executive Summary

Context  To demonstrate how aerobic exercise positively affects health.  “Aerobic exercise involves exercise performed for extended periods [of time] with large muscle activity … that challenge the delivery of oxygen to the active muscles” (Knuttgen, 2007)  Say YES to cardio! Image source: www.decohubs.com

Method  Multiple variables were recorded from 14 male participants a. Age b. Height c. Weight d. Body mass index e. Resting heart rate f. 1 Mile run time  Data was recorded twice -- on the first and last day of the month

Description  Initial data was recorded  Participants were instructed to complete an aerobic training regimen for the entirety of one month  Run 1 mile each night  At the end of the month data was recorded once again and compared for improvements Image source: www.thenextweb.com

Assessment Plan  Two tailed type 1 T-Test was used to compare the initial vs. Post data  It was assumed that participants values would drop (improve) by the end of the month  Theoretically, participants aerobic fitness should have improved if training was completed each night

Results  Collectively, the group improved the mean values in all aspects between the initial and post data Mean weight (lbs)Mean BMIMean RHR Mean 1 Mile (seconds) Pre148.072372354 Post146.5722.769340

Results

Analysis  Individually most participants made significant improvements  Specifically looking at RHR and Mile run times (see previous slide)

Discussion  Aerobic Fitness is a huge determinant in ones health  From this study it is easy to deduct that the introduction of a 1 month program can significantly improve a person’s aerobic fitness  Training does not have to be extreme, but consistency is key!

Next Steps  Participants are encouraged to continue running individually  Continuing to run will improve aerobic fitness as well as lower resting heart rate  Cardio = health!
