5 Important Lines Latitude (Parallel): – parallel lines that don’t touch and measure N&S but run E&W Equator (0 o ): – Main reference line in middle of earth, runs east and west. Longitude (meridians): – not parallel lines that touch at the poles and measure E&W but run N&S Prime Meridian (0 o ): – Main reference line for longitude, runs north and south. International Date Line (180 o ): – opposite side of earth from Prime Meridian.
