2 LOCATION The Himalayas passes through five nations: India, Pakistan, Bhutan, China and Nepal.

3 FEATURES OF THE HIMALAYAS The Himalayas is the world’s largest mountain range. Its peak is of 8,000 meters, which is approximately 26,000 feet. There are 14 such peaks of the Himalayas and hundreds of summits, which are around 23,000 feet high. The mountain range stretches 1,700 miles across an area between Assam and Kashmir.

6 CLIMATE IN THE HIMALAYAS The Himalayas Alpine climate varies according to the elevation. It gets colder as the elevation increases and gets wetter as the elevation drops. As a result the temperature and climatic changes in the Himalayas regions change very quickly. All of a sudden there can be occurances of monsoons, floods, high winds, snowstorms and other types of precipitation, which makes the climate over here quiet an unpredictable and dangerous one.

7 DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ANDES AND THE HIMALAYAS The Andes is 22,241 feet above sea level and the Himalayas is over 25,000 feet above sea level.
