*Taught four years in Campbell Union School District *2nd Year teaching in Tracy Unified *Taught 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grade *Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with CLAD from CSU East Bay *Masters in Education from Cal State East Bay About Me

3 My Job *It is my job to teach your child fifth grade curriculum that will help them prepare him/her for sixth grade. *We also work on social skills – how to work with others through participation and cooperation. *My goal is to make this year a positive learning experience for your child and to empower them with the “I CAN” attitude.

What this means for you and your student: More writing and critical thinking in all subject areas New math curriculum– now doing multiplication at the end of first trimester Math assessments are now online Students need to be practicing fact families each and every night Typing practice and more typed assignment options

11 AR: Accelerated Reader
-4 tests passed in the 1st trimester -6 tests passed in the 2nd trimester and 3rd trimester -Students have to get 80% to pass a test -TESTS CAN ONLY BE TAKEN ONE TIME! -Students will know their individual reading level to pick an appropriate book AR: Accelerated Reader

13 Homework Monday - Thursday -60 minutes UNINTERRUPTED each night
-Students must read every night and complete a task -Agenda must be initialed by a parent every night -Missing/Late homework is NOT accepted -It is the students responsibility to get their missing work. They will have the same amount of days they were absent to complete the work. -We will have Homework Buddies to write down any missing assignments. -If work is not completed because of emergencies, please contact me. Homework

14 George Kelly requires that all students in grades 4-8 have agendas
George Kelly requires that all students in grades 4-8 have agendas. This is where the students record their nightly homework. The student handbook is also inside of the GKES Agendas. Agendas are $10.00 cash. Students need to have an agenda by next Monday! Agendas

15 Organization Corrected work will be filed in each student’s file.
Once passed back, all work is to be kept at home. Please keep all work until the end of the trimester. Each student has a RED homework folder to take homework to and from school in. All homework should be kept in it. There are also sample homework pieces in the folder. Desk and area surrounding is always to be clean and organized (Including Book Cubbie)

16 Projects This is a small sample of some of the projects we will be doing this year: -Native American Museum Project (September) -Explorer Project (October) -Book Report projects (throughout the year) -American Revolution Project -Science Report -State Report (April/May)

17 GRADES Grades are available to you 24/7 through the ABI Parent Portal
Grades are updated often. Please check at least once a week The more informed you are the better your child will do. GRADES

18 Progress Reports Progress Reports are available online on Aeries grading system. Grades are updated often Please check grades on a weekly basis A full printout will be given for formal progress reports, and at the end of the trimester. If you haven’t signed up for Aeries yet, please do so in the office ASAP!

19 It is imperative that all students attend school unless they are sick or have a family crisis.
Students must be on time (BEFORE 8:20) Make-up work will be the student’s responsibility to ask for and complete. Parents may call in the morning to request work. Missed assignments will be ready in the office by 3:30 if requested. Attendance

20 Our budget is still very limited for school supplies, copies, field trips, etc.
We are requesting $20 donation to cover the normal supplies needed Any other donations are greatly appreciated! PLEASE VISIT OUR “HELPING HANDS” Monetary donation will be put in the PTO account and used for classroom supplies. Make checks to GKPTO and put Michelle Hampton Room 22 in the memo. Time for the bad news….

21 Field Trips Due to budget cuts we will need to get donations and/ or fundraise for field trips to occur. We will be having a Walk-a-Thon to raise money for our first field trip to the Lawrence Discovery Center! Class Donations can be made by cash or check Make checks payable to GKPTO In the memo put Michelle Hampton Rm 22
