Mobile Inspector is an iPad app WisDOT is using in conjunction with FieldManager. Field staff can enter item quantity entry, men, equipment and weather at the construction site and it auto syncs with FieldManager. Staff can take photos and attach them to an IDR. Standalone versions of the CMM and Standard Spec are available on the iPad. In 2014, WisDOT piloted the Mobile Inspector app with 1-2 inspectors per region office participating. 5
6
The Mobile Inspector app is free but WisDOT pays an annual license fee for the “Bridge” communication software between the app and FieldManager. In 2015, there will be more WisDOT inspectors using iPads in the NE and SE Region offices. Due licensing restrictions, this app will not be provided to consultant staff but we hope to have this resolved by the 2016 season. 6

Upon exiting your FieldManager database for the 5 th time, a Warning window will appear prompting you to backup. The backup window was shortened due to the number of crashed FieldManager databases reported to Kristen McDaniel in 2014. The initial backup is stored at C:\ProgramData\FieldManager\database\Backup An additional backup can be saved on an external USB drive too. 14
15
We recommend performing weekly backups. How to setup WisDOT backup process: Create folder on USB drive named \ACMApplications Copy C:\ACMApplications\backup\*.* to USB drive \ACMApplications folder Each week run backup from USB drive: Run \ACMApplications\Backup\ACMBackup.bat Copies FieldManager, FIT and/or MIT databases Option to backup current user’s profile too. Store the backup device offsite. 15 Woodruff – Lac du Flambeau Vilas County Contractor – Integrity Grading and Excavating Project Leader – Pete Dieckman, NWBE, Inc. Project Manager – Jim Volkmann

FieldManager 5.1 is the last version of FieldManager for WisDOT. In 2016, staff will continue to use FieldManager 5.1a as we move staff to the new AASHTOWare web interface. We plan to migrate carryover projects from FieldManager to the new web interface. New projects will probably be started using the new web interface. FIT and Project Tracking will probably be incorporated into the new web interface. WisDOT will continue to use MIT, MTS and Pantry. 18
