 Mobile Inspector is an iPad app WisDOT is using in conjunction with FieldManager.  Field staff can enter item quantity entry, men, equipment and weather at the construction site and it auto syncs with FieldManager.  Staff can take photos and attach them to an IDR.  Standalone versions of the CMM and Standard Spec are available on the iPad.  In 2014, WisDOT piloted the Mobile Inspector app with 1-2 inspectors per region office participating. 5

 The Mobile Inspector app is free but WisDOT pays an annual license fee for the “Bridge” communication software between the app and FieldManager.  In 2015, there will be more WisDOT inspectors using iPads in the NE and SE Region offices.  Due licensing restrictions, this app will not be provided to consultant staff but we hope to have this resolved by the 2016 season. 6

 Utilities | System Management | Maintain Users  Add User  Add each inspector for all the contracts within this database.  Enter the inspector’s associated iPad Device ID on this screen. Multiple device IDs can be entered. This was setup for states who use iPads, iPhones, Android phones, etc. 7

 Docu (Change Contract Documentation) | Users  New tab for the Mobile Inspector app.  This is where the Project Leader selects the Mobile Inspector(s) for this specific contract. All users are entered under the Maintain Users section.  This needs to be completed for each contract and database installed on each computer with mobile inspectors. 8

Print the Explanation of Variation report in FIT. 11

 FN Mailbox | Send Outbox | Get Mail  These buttons appear on all FieldManager windows. 13

 Upon exiting your FieldManager database for the 5 th time, a Warning window will appear prompting you to backup.  The backup window was shortened due to the number of crashed FieldManager databases reported to Kristen McDaniel in 2014.  The initial backup is stored at C:\ProgramData\FieldManager\database\Backup  An additional backup can be saved on an external USB drive too. 14

 We recommend performing weekly backups.  How to setup WisDOT backup process:  Create folder on USB drive named \ACMApplications  Copy C:\ACMApplications\backup\*.* to USB drive \ACMApplications folder  Each week run backup from USB drive:  Run \ACMApplications\Backup\ACMBackup.bat  Copies FieldManager, FIT and/or MIT databases  Option to backup current user’s profile too.  Store the backup device offsite. 15 Woodruff – Lac du Flambeau Vilas County Contractor – Integrity Grading and Excavating Project Leader – Pete Dieckman, NWBE, Inc.
