Theory that a country’s wealth was dependent upon how much gold/silver it had Used colonies as sources of wealth What was the impact of precious metal exports from the Americas? Led to severe inflation in Europe during the Age of Exploration

Magna Carta Document from 1200s that limits the monarchy Civil War Fought in 1600s between supporters of the King and supporters of Parliament over who should have power to rule The first political parties develop Glorious Revolution, 1689 William and Mary take the throne of England They sign the English Bill of Rights, which gives Parliament certain powers and limits the monarch

Rose to power after the French Revolution Created the Napoleonic Code (legal system) Inspired nationalism, conquered much of Europe Congress of Vienna Formed after Napoleon’s defeat to divide up Europe Wanted to establish a “balance of power” so no country could dominate Oppressed democracy and liberalism
