2. SIMPLE SENTENCE
ONE independent clause Expresses a complete thought with a subject and a predicate It can stand by ITSELF. Ex : I looked for Mary and Samantha at the bus stop.

3. COMPOUND SENTENCE
A sentence with ONE or more independent clauses joined by a comma and a conjunction OR a SEMICOLON (;). Ex: She did not cheat on the test, for it was not the right thing to do.

4. COMPLEX SENTENCE
One independent clause joined together with one DEPENDENT clause IC DC DC, IC Ex: Because my coffee was too cold, I heated it in the microwave.

5. COMPOUND-COMPLEX SENTENCE
Two or more independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses All clauses must be JOINED appropriately. Ex: Because Katie was late for school, she grabbed her book bag, but she forgot her lunch.
