3 Comprehensive Technology Planning Committee (CTPC) Ad hoc committee –Goal to “involve the campus community in the process of sharing ideas, gathering information, and then suggesting a direction for technology use at EIU” –22 individuals representing different academic units, groups, and organizations on campus –Weekly meetings from Jan/2003 to Feb/2004 Co-chaired by Assistant Vice-Presidents from ITS and Academic Affairs

4 Provost’s Statement Overview of task with emphasis on the following: –Technology integration for curricular development and degree programs –Training and professional development for faculty and staff –Technical support services available on campus –Technology infrastructure Group allowed to determine own course of action for completion of task

5 Key Issues Assessment of instructional technology use Challenges facing the academic infrastructure (human resources, curriculum, and available technologies) Solutions and suggestions for addressing those challenges Opportunities for change

6 CTPC Model Mission statement of university Student learning experience at the center of all activities Entry into system through various portals: business affairs, student services, external relations, and academic affairs

10 Open Sessions on Campus Opportunity to attend face-to-face sessions to discuss questions Questions and concerns about functionality of the network or other technological challenges of the past not allowed as focus on discussions Participation also possible by submitting responses online or via email

12 CTPC University Technology Survey A survey was developed by members of CTPC and others on campus with expertise in that area Intent to solicit additional input from the campus about prioritizing their questions, issues, and concerns in designated categories
