2 Removing Old Equipment Types of Equipment-Obsolete, No Longer Supported, Donated Old Equipment Desktop Computers Laptops Printers Monitors Other computer peripherals relating to PCs (Handheld Palms, keyboards)

3 Options Recycle is an option when: Equipment is still above standard for use and support An Admin office wishes to recycle / transfer to a campus for student use and computer meets standards Disposal is an option when: Equipment is broken and is no longer under warranty and cannot be repaired Equipment is in excess to the campus needs and is below SAISD standards for use and support

4 Disposition of Equipment Before any computer equipment will be removed from a campus by Plant Services, campuses need the approval of the Technology department Plant Services will not pick up equipment without approval of the C36-A form Disposal & Transfer of Computer Equipment

5 Process for Disposition SAISD Procedure C36-A Campus / Admin Dept., completes the top portion of the SAISD Disposal & Transfer C36-A form and fax or pony to Technology Fax# 223-8879. This form also replaces the INV-I transfer form. You no longer need to fill out two forms. This serves as a Transfer INV-I form for Computers and PC related items only

6 Disposition Process Form must be approved by Principal or Department Head Technology department will review items listed Equipment is reviewed to see if it is below SAISD standards for use and support If equipment is not below standard, a technician will be sent onsite or the campus will be contacted to determine if equipment is broken and no longer under warranty The disposition is approved and the completed form is returned to the campus or admin office

7 Disposition Process The campus contacts Plant Services to arrange for pickup of the equipment to go to Boys Club. Do not arrange ahead of time if you do not have your C36-A form approved from Technology. Fill out the Releasing Campus Information and the Receiving Campus area where items are going to (this section replaces the INV-I Transfer form) Plant Services will ask for the approved C36-A Disposal & Transfer form when picking up the equipment Plant Services takes the equipment to the SAISD warehouse where it is prepared for auction. Plant Services will not pick up equipment without an approved form!

8 Recycling Process Technology will review the items if you wish to recycle to another campus. C36-A serves as a transfer form. Equipment is examined to see if items meet SAISD standards for use and support. C36-A form will be marked if equipment is approved for recycling or not. Arrangements for pick up of equipment is made between the releasing and receiving campus or department. Technology & Integration will determine which campus will receive the equipment giving priority to: Low performing schools Schools with a thorough Campus Technology Plan and a well-defined need for resources, and Administrative locations

9 Recycling Process The C36-A form will be marked approved for recycling of equipment and sent back to you in the pony. The releasing campus will have Principal approve the transfer using the same C36-A form and fill in the Receiving Campus/Dept. name for transferring the items from inventory. The receiving campus will be contacted to arrange for the pickup and transfer of equipment. The receiving campus signs the C36-A form for transferring the items to be taken off inventory and submit C36-A form to Fixed Assets Dept.
