1 Scottish Shortbread Cookies By: Ashley Heinzel

2 Why Shortbread? I decided to make shortbread cookies for the cultural cuisine project because it is a tradition in my family that we make those cookies during the holiday season to express our Scottish heritage.

3 Ingredients Flour Sugar Salt Softened butter (unsalted) You can purchase this items at any grocery store (I obtained my items from Vons).

4 Simple Steps: Preheat oven to 350 degrees In a large mixing bowl add: 2 cups of flour ½ cup of sugar 1 teaspoon of salt

5 Simple Steps: (cont.) Add the softened unsalted butter Mix with mixer until the dough becomes crumbly

6 Simple Steps: (cont.) Work the dough with hands until the butter is completely mixed into the flour, sugar, and salt mixture.

7 Simple Steps: (cont.) Then form the dough into small balls, and place them on an ungreased cookie sheet

8 Simple Steps: (cont.) Press the dough balls down with a fork

9 Simple Steps: (cont.) Place cookies in the oven for 15 minutes or until the edges turn gold

10 Final Result Let the cookies cool and ENJOY!

11 Feedback I liked the shortbread cookies, but they aren’t as good as when my mom makes them. My 3 roommates thought they were delicious! The cookies were too hard or soft, but absolutely perfect.
