1 "Standards for Photovoltaic Devices and Systems" (Proposal No. GRC-2004-3) ISO Working Draft WD 23039 “Space Systems - Space Multi-Junction Solar Cells - Calibration and Procedures” Data has been completed and analyzed New draft available when ITAR release is obtained Uncertainty comparison will be completed by the end of the year on all measurement techniques by Keith Emery. This will include the JPL, CNES and NASA GRC measurements applicable to this document. Aerospace Report No. TOR-2004(8383)-3554, “Qualification and Quality Requirements for Space-Qualified Solar Cells” has been released on August 4, 2004 to AIAA

2 Normalized Multi-junction Cell Data The good news is that all data are contained within +/- 1%

3 "Standards for Photovoltaic Array" (Proposal No. GRC-2004-2) Aerospace Report No. TOR-2004(8583)-3557, “Qualification and Quality Requirements for Space-Qualified Solar Panels” has been released on August 4, 2004 to AIAA Pending release of the ECSS E-20-08 document and ITAR release of TOR-2004(8583)-3557, a new ISO Standard will be proposed

4 AIAA Standards development for the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC)  Use AIAA’s existing ANSI-accredited procedures for developing industry consensus standards in each of the identified areas.  Initiate the creation of the new standards based on Technical Operating Reports (TORs) supplied by the SMC  Identify the CoS participants.  Hold a kick-off meeting for the CoS participants to get them started on the task of developing the five standards. (Held August 17, 2004 in DC.)  Facilitate and publish the resultant standards by June 2005, for release to SMC and for publication by AIAA.  The following documents are referenced: ISO FDIS 15387 Space systems – Space solar cells – Measurement and calibration procedures ISO DIS 23038 Space systems – Space solar cells – Electron and proton irradiation test methods  ISO WD 23039 Space systems – Multi-junction solar cells – Measurement and calibration procedures MIL-S-83576 – General specification for space vehicle solar cell array design and testing The CoS is doing both cells and arrays. Meetings are via telecon and email
