3 Life stages are the widely recognized periods of life corresponding to broad phases of development. During the stages of life, developmental tasks and milestones will be encountered. These are any skills or turning points in which must be overcome in order for development. The life-span perspective is the study of continuity and change in behavior over a lifetime.

4 Age is marked by the development of the body from infant to adult. During the stages of life, the body will start to mature from infancy. Eventually the body will reach its peak of maturity, and from that point on, the body will start to decline. The end of the decline is marked by death.

5 The mind, is like the body, and will start to mature as people age. From infancy, the mind will be at a sensorimotor stage moving on to preoperational, to concrete operational, and finally ending at the formal operations stage. As the mind continues to transition from one stage to another, the mind will begin to perform more complex actions. Language comprehension and learning deals with developmental. Exposure and certain conditioning can yield results that are expected if cognition is at the right stage.

6 Adolescence to seek out their identity. Peer pressure in order to change their beliefs and style. Gender plays a role in maturation, the time for maturation can have a good or bad impact on the person. Imaginary audience is a group of people a person imagines is watching his or her action. When growing up, the concept of self-consciousness, self- confident, and self-esteem are all part of the development of humans. Adolescence is a culturally defined social status. Puberty is a biological event.

7 Lawrence Kohlberg held that we learn moral values through thinking and reasoning. Kohlberg’s Moral Development contains 3 categories each with 2 sections. Preconventional moral is moral thinking based on the consequences of one’s choices or actions. Conventional moral is moral thinking based on desire to please others or to follow accepted rules and values. Postconventional moral is moral thinking based on carefully examined and self-chosen moral principles.

8 A thanatologist is a specialist who studies emotional and behavioral reactions to death and dying. One noticeable specialist was Kubler- Ross. With experience over the years, Kubler-Ross was able to come up with a basic chart of emotional reactions to impending death. Denial and Isolation Anger Bargaining Depression Acceptance Near-death experiences frequently result in significant changes in personality, values, and life goals.
