Checking your work for mistakes 1. With different coloured highlighters, mark:  verbs  adjectives 2. Check your work:  have you answered all of the questions in detail?  verbs – past/present/future? Correct ending?  adjective endings – is the word it’s describing m/f/pl? Homework: Finish any of this that hasn’t been done. If you have time, swap work with someone else and check each others’ work.

Develop ways to help you prepare for the final part of your writing assessment. Objective: What is it? You’ll have 1 hour to write up your final version, using:  a dictionary  a prompt sheet with up to 40 key words (verbs must be in the infinitive, e.g. you can have jouer but not j’ai joué). You are NOT expected to learn your draft by heart! When is it? * If you miss this lesson, you’ll have to do it in your own time.

Stage 1: Write your draft up in neat, DOUBLE SPACED, without any crossing out/arrows etc. *While you write, try to pay attention to what you’re talking about and the key words you’ve used. Stage 2: VERBS 1. With a highlighter, mark all of the verbs you’ve used. 2. On a new page, write these verbs down in three lists for past, present & future, plus what they mean in English. e.g.PAST PRESENT FUTURE j’ai joué = I played je fais = I do je vais aller = I’m going to go j’ai mangé = I ate c’est = it is je vais faire = I’m going to do Do the verbs in each column “match” each other?  do your past tenses all have part of avoir or être + past participle?  do any of your present tenses still end in ER, IR or RE? If they do, you’ve forgotten to change them to show who’s doing the action.  do all of your future tenses have part of aller (to go) + infinitive?

Stage 3: ADJECTIVES 1. In a different colour, highlight all of the adjectives you’ve used. 2. Put them into lists for masc, fem, masc. plural and fem. plural, plus what they mean in English. * As you’re doing this, check that they agree with the noun they’re describing (correct ending if the noun is feminine or plural). Stage 4: BONUS WORDS 1. With another colour, highlight all of the connectives, time phrases & intensifiers (e.g. very, quite) that you’ve used. 2. Which ones could you find out by looking round the classroom? Write any you can’t see in a list with their English meaning. Stage 5: KEY VOCAB 1. Last time with highlighters! In another colour, highlight any key words you think you might not remember. NO MORE THAN 25!! 2. Write them in a list with what they mean in English.

Stage 6: REVISING IMPORTANT WORDS You now have lists of the verbs, adjectives and other key vocab that you need to remember. The most important thing is to get verb endings correct – you can lose lots of marks if you don’t. 1.Go to http://www.linguascope.com and type in username and password.http://www.linguascope.com 2.Click on Activity Builder, then Interactive Flash Activities. 3.Where it says Select a Game, use the arrows to choose what type of game to make. 4.Type in the French words you need to learn in the left column and English on the right. 5.Click Create Game, then follow the instructions in the window that pops up. 6.Make as many of these games as you want, and use them to practise the key words from your writing work.
