How do counselors schedule? We look at your grades We look at your test scores We talk to your teachers We look at your progress reports and quarter grades We look at your future plans We meet with you to answer your questions and choose classes for next year

How do you succeed? Use your planner which includes academic calendar (p.19-20) Obtain weekly progress reports and check StudentConnection NO D’s or F’s – no guarantee they can be made up!! Designate a time of day to complete homework and assignments Talk to your teachers See your counselor Use resources at The Career Center

CAHSEE information You must pass both the English Language Arts and Mathematics section The minimum passing score is 350 to receive a diploma. 380 is proficient. Once you pass the exam you do not have to take it again

Four Year Colleges UUniversity of California (UC) CCalifornia State University (CSU) YYou must complete the “a – g” requirements if you are planning to attend a UC/CSU PPrivate and Out of State Colleges may follow a similar pattern of coursework AA grade of “C” or better is required for all college coursework The more competitive the school, the more college prep coursework they want you to take.

A-G requirements a. History/Social Science – 2 yrs required b Language Arts – 4 yrs. required c. Laboratory Science 2 yrs. required, 3 years recommended d. Mathematics – 3 yrs. required, 4 yrs recommended e. Language other than English (LOTE) – 2 yrs, required 3 years recommended f. Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) – 1 yr required g. College Preparatory Electives – 1 yr required. A grade of “C” or better is required for all college course work.

TESTING REQUIREMENTS University of California (UC) requires either the SAT Reasoning or the ACT with the Writing Test. SAT Subject Tests are offered. Please see your counselor for information Private or out-of-state colleges may require a specific test. Check online for specific requirements. Community Colleges do not require these tests.

This year, Eleanor Roosevelt High School has an API score of 817. We have the highest score in the district!!!! 1 out of 3 ERHS seniors attend a 4-year university directly after high school.

If you plan to play sports at ERHS: You will have to try out every year. Your coach will inform the counselors of what students made the team. Some sports have a class during the day and some don’t. If there is no class, you MAY be able to get a one semester waiver. This is your responsibility! Please check with your counselor and Mr. Sunderland in the athletic dept. for more details.
