2. However there are three types of Conditional Sentences.
Conditional Sentences are also known as Conditional Clauses or If Clauses.
They are used to express that the action in the main clause (without if)
can only take place if a certain condition (in the clause with if) is fulfilled.
There are two kinds of conditional sentences: real and unreal.
Real Conditional describes real-life situations.
Unreal Conditional describes unreal, imaginary situations.
However there are three types of Conditional Sentences.
Type 1
Type 2

3. Conditional Sentence Type 1
Present Real Conditional
Form
if + Simple Present, will-Future / modals present
The main clause can also be at the beginning of the sentence. In this case,
don't use a comma.
Example: I will send her an invitation if I find her address.
If I don’t see him this afternoon, I will phone him in the evening.
I will send her an invitation if I find her address.
If I go to Singapore, I can visit my pen pal there
She can help many people if she is becoming a doctor.

Note : Please pay attention to the verb printed in bold.

4. Use of Conditional type I
Conditional Sentences Type I refer to the future.
An action in the future will only happen if a certain
condition is fulfilled by that time.
We don't know for sure whether the condition actually
will be fulfilled or not, but the conditions seems rather
realistic – so we think it is likely to happen

5. Conditional Sentence Type 2
If + Simple Past, Past Modals + verb
Example
If I owned a car, I would drive to work.
She would travel around the world if she had more money.
I would read more if I didn't watch so much TV
Conditional Type 2 is an unreal conditional

The Unreal Conditional is used to talk about what
you would generally do in imaginary situations

6. Because Conditional Type 2 has an imaginary condition.
So it has what we call true fact.
In finding the true fact from each conditional sentence type2,
we have to consider the following situation.
Every positive statement in Conditional sentence will be turned
into negative statement in True Fact Sentence. And every
negative statement will be turned into positive statement.
Or even if the statement remain the same, it should have an
opposite meaning
2. The Simple Past Tense form in Conditional Sentence will
become the Simple Present Tense in the True Fact Sentence. And so
the Past Modals in the Conditional Sentence will become
Present Modals in the True Fact Sentence

8. Were instead of Was
In Conditional Sentence Type II, we usually use ‚were‘ –
even if the pronoun is I, he, she or it –.
We don’t use was in Conditional Sentence Type II
Example:
If I were you, I would not do this.
She would take me to the hospital if she were not busy
If you were a teacher, you could teach in a school
They would go to Bandung if they were permitted by
their parents.

Janine is a daydreamer. She imagines what would happen if
she won the lottery.
Complete the Conditional Sentences Type II.

11. Exercises on Conditional Sentences Type 1
Some friends are planning a party. Everybody wants to party,
but nobody's really keen on preparing and organizing the party.
So everybody comes up with a few conditions, just to make sure that the
others will also do something.
Complete the Conditional Sentences Type I.
If Caroline and Sue ………the salad, Phil ………the house.
If Sue ……… the onions for the salad, Caroline ………the mushrooms.
Jane ……… the sitting room if Aaron and Tim ……… the furniture.
