6 Rapid Growth The population pyramid is wide at the bottom. Much Wider than the top.

7 Steady Growth This country is showing steady growth. It has periods of rapid growth and decline. It all balances out to a steady growth.

8 Negative Growth 1.The Country has more population in the older groups of people at the top of the graph and then less as you move down.

Market Economy: –Prices controlled by supply and demand –People try to make more money by doing a better service –United States of America Command Economy –The government controls the price of goods and what is produced. –Any extra made is turned over to the government. –Cuba has a command economy

11 6 Mixed Economy –Some production is controlled by the government and some is controlled by supply and demand –The people have a say in what they produce. –Namibia has a Mixed Economy Traditional Economy –This economy is seen in the developing nations of the world. –Goods and services are not paid for with money but are bartered for. –There are few true traditional economies, most are just part. –Chad is a traditional economy

12 7 Infrastructure: –This is a countries way to transport goods, services, and ideas. It is also the way that country communicates with other regions –Ways that infrastructure is effected relate to how many people are used the system. The more people traveling on the system the more it is stressed.

13 8. Push Factors: –Something that motivates a person to leave an area –War –Disease –Famine –No Jobs –High Cost of Living Pull Factors: –Something that will make a person want to move to an area –Jobs –Food –Low Cost of Living –Freedom –Land

14 9. High Gross Domestic Product High Literacy Rate (people can read/write) High Life expectancy Low infant mortality rate Good Standard of Living Lots of industry

15 10 Subsistence Economy: –People grow enough crops to feed their family –There is no left over crops to be sold at market –The only reason to make more crops is if you have more children

16 11 Primary: Harvesting Raw Materials Secondary: Changing the material to add value to it. (Clean the material up) Tertiary: Service Industry (Don’t sell something but provide a service) Quaternary: Information management and research. (look for better ways to do things)

17 12 Women in developing nations are more likely to fall victim to being treated unequal to men. This is a problem that is usually dealt with as the country develops.
