Suspend/Remove/Restore Transit Benefits Jessie has decided to leave her employment with your company. You have already paid WMATA for her benefits for the month, but you do not want her to draw the benefits. You must now SUSPEND her from the Transit Benefits System. You will later REMOVE her from the program completely. Here’s how that works.

Click the Program Management tab and select View Employee List Click on Jessie’s first or last name. A box appears with all of Jessie’s enrollment information. At the bottom of this box, click the button that says Suspend/Restore Benefits. Place a check mark in the box next to the benefits you want to suspend. Respond YES to the question: “Do you really want to suspend/restore the employee’s benefits.?” The message: “The benefits have been suspended and/or restored.” appears on your screen. Close this window. Begin at the SmartBenefits home page screen here.

Jessie’s benefits are now suspended preventing her from using the transit benefits previously assigned to her for the current month. WMATA will credit that amount back to your account which reduces your bill for that month. But there is one more important step. Suspending only takes care of the current month. To avoid being billed for Jessie in future months, you must completely REMOVE her from the program. This must be done between the 1 st and the 15 th of the month. Let’s walk through the process of REMOVING an employee.

From the View Employee List page, click on Jessie’s first or last name. A box appears with all of Jessie’s enrollment information. Next to STATUS, click the REMOVED circle. Click SAVE and CLOSE. You now receive the message: “Employee has been removed successfully”. To make sure Jessie has been removed, click on the Program Management tab and select View Employee List. This refreshes the data, and Jessie’s name is no longer on your Employee List. View Employee List screen here.

Jessie changed her mind and wants to receive SmartBenefits again. Since she received benefits before, you can RESTORE her benefits now. Here is how you would RESTORE Jessie’s transit benefit.

From the Program Management tab, select Employee List. The Status field will be prefilled with ENROLLED. Click on the drop down arrow and select REMOVED. Click FIND This generates an Employee List with only the names and old enrollment information of Removed employees on it. To reenroll Jessie, click on her first or last name which takes you to the Employee Enrollment Modification screen. Click on the Status dropdown arrow and select Enrolled. Click Save and Close To make sure Jessie has been Restored, click on the Program Management tab and select View Employee List. This refreshes the data, and Jessie’s name appears as an Enrolled employee on your Employee List. Start with Home Page

Now you try it. You will suspend, remove then restore the transit benefits for _________.
