2 Kinds of Pronouns are: 1. Personal Pronouns 2. Demonstrative Pronouns 3. Interrogative Pronouns 4. Relative Pronouns 5. Indefinite Pronouns 6. Reflexive Pronouns 7. Intensive Pronouns

3 1.Personal Pronouns It is a specific person or thing to indicate person, number, gender or case There are 3 kinds of prsnal pronoun: a.A subjective personal pronoun b.An objective personal pronoun c.A possessive personal pronoun

4 1. a. A subjective personal pronoun It shows a pronoun which acts as a subject of a sentence. They are: I, you, we, they, she, he, it. Examples: 1. He borrows 3 computer books in the library. 2. She went home. 3. I lost a book. 4. They were happy here.

5 b. An objective Prsnl Pronoun It shows a pronoun which acts as an object of a sentence. They are: me, us, them, him, her and it. Examples: 1.I have two nice cats, I love them very much. 2.He buys a computer book every week, and he reads it every afternoon. 3.He sends an sms to her friend every morning. 4. The teacher helped him.

6 1.c. A possessive personal pronoun It shows that pronoun refers to a marker of possession, a person or thing that owns other thing/man. It stands alone. They are: mine, yours, ours, theirs, hers, his, and its.

7 Examples; 1.Is this my pencil? Is this mine? 2. Where is our car? Where is ours? 3. Mary has found her book. Mary has found hers.

8 Examples: 1. The most beautiful doll is hers. 2. Ours will be sent back the day after tomorrow. 3. Is the new house theirs? 4. The red car is yours and the silver one is mine. 5. Which one is his pen? The blue one is his.

9 2. Demonstrative Pronoun It’s used to pint an show a noun or pronoun. They are: this and that refer to singular these and those refer to plural.

10 Examples: 1. This is mine, while that is yours. 2. When my sister sees three rip apples in the tree, she takes those. 3. That is her boy friend. 4. These three theses are about how to construct a building, a robot, and a traffic light program.

11 3. Interrogative Pronouns It’s used to ask questions. They are: a.Who b.Whom c.What d.Which e.Whose

12 Examples: 1.Who gave you this book? 2.With whom do you go to school? 3.What is your name? 4.Which of these girls will win the prize? 5.Whose bag is that?

13 4. RELATIVE PRONOUN It is used to connect a phrase or clause to another phrase or clause. They are: a.Who b.Whom c.That d.What e.which

14 Examples: 1.I thank the woman who helped me. 2.The book which is on the table is mine. 3.She is the girl about whom I told you. 4.The student whose composition I read writes well. 5.That is the bird that he caught yesterday.

15 5. Indefinite Pronouns Indefinite Pronoun is a pronoun which refers to identifiable but not specified person or thing. They are: all, another, any, anybody, anyone, anything, each, few everybody, everyone, everything, many, nobody, none, one, several, somebody, someone.

16 Examples: 1.Everyone in my class concentrates his mind on the material. 2. The teacher asks someone to do his homework on the whiteboard. 3. Among the beautiful paintings, the jury has to choose one as the best. 4. Many(as an adjective) men in Indonesia like soccer.

17 6. Reflexive Pronouns Reflexive Pronouns is a pronoun which refers to back to the subject of the clause or a sentence after the verb. They are: myself, yourself, herself, himself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves.

18 Examples: 1. You ask yourself whether you go to college or university. 2. My father teaches my sister Japanese himself. 3. I reminded myself to charge my mobile phone yesterday

19 7. Intensive Pronouns Intensive Pronouns is a pronoun used to emphasize its antecedent directly.

20 Examples: a.The president himself went to the funeral of Pope Paulus in Vatican. b. The director himself led the rowing competition last year. c.As the teachers of a famous university in Indonesia, Mulyana W Kusumah and Nasaruddin Syamsudin themselves do the crime. d.He himself told me about the results of his examination.
