14  Intro 0:00 - In this very short, single-instrument introduction, the tempo begins slow and steady, and the beat is steady, easy to pick up, and easily followed. The dynamics of this song are mezzo- piano, from what we can tell so far, and the texture is monophonic.  Verse One 0:06 - Verse one starts in quickly with repetition of the same chords and steady beat that were used in the introduction. In the first few words of the lyrics, you can tell that this is a more serious song. The rhythm and melody remain the same as the intro. As the verse progresses toward the chorus, there is a very minute crescendo that the listener would only notice if they were paying close enough attention to the music behind the lyrics. For me, this implies that the listener is about to experience something very important and emotional to the artist.  Chorus 0:54 & 2:10 & 3:32 - The chorus opens up with tone and dynamics that are very similar to the previous verse, and you can start to see a repetitious pattern emerging in the music. The dynamics remain constant throughout the chorus, and also as the song progresses into the second verse.  Verses Two 1:21 - All three verses in this song are almost identical, except for the lyrics; behind all the verses.  Verse Three 2:42 - The song retains its form of repetition into this verse, as with the rest. It is apparent this far into the song that the melody, texture, and dynamics will continue to remain the same, with little change. In my opinion, the lyrics are what make this song sound different from section to section, not the music itself.  End 4:17 - The song ends with only a single vocal line (as with the entire song, there's only been a single vocalist) and a single acoustic guitar line repeating the first line of the first verse, but accentuating it by slowing the music down and singing softer so the listener is forced to pay close attention to the specific words. The vocals and guitar both end simultaneously, and the sound of the last guitar strum carries out for a few seconds until the song comes to a close.

16  Intro 0:00 - An acoustic song, in my opinion, implies a certain level of intimacy, as in the feel of the music and the summary of the lyrics are a life experience or about something very close to the artist's life. The dynamics of this song begin soft. The melody heard in the introduction is a medium speed and easily identified as being played by an acoustic guitar. As with most songs from this group of artist's, the musical form is repetitious, creating a familiar feel to the music.  Verse One 0:28 - The tempo picks in speed as the first verse starts, and vocals start softly in a serene manner.  Chorus 1:00 & 1:49 & 2:48 - Additional vocals and instruments are added into the chorus. One can hear at least two additional voices adding a light harmony behind the melody. The tempo does not speed up anymore as it did when the first verse did, but there is a definite difference in the dynamics as the volume of the vocals and music increases. The harmony adds a more rounded sound to the music and makes the solo acoustics we heard in the beginning of the song sound more complete.  Bridge - 2:10 - The vocals and other instruments are absent in this soft acoustic-only bridge. The duration is short and the tone is meaningful, and the second verse is repeated to let the listener know if it's importance and life lessons.  End 3:30 - The songs ends continuously repeating one phrase with multiple voices singing the same melody with no harmony line, over a soft acoustic line with no other instruments behind it. After the last vocal line there is a short and soft guitar solo, before the songs comes to a end with the guitar chord softly ringing out to the end.

18  Intro 0:00 - Unlike my other two song selections, this song opens with multiple instruments including, but not limited to an electric guitar, drum kit, and an electric bass guitar. The melody is not as easily found, but can be picked up after listening for several seconds. The dynamics of this song are loud with bass-heavy guitar tones, but the free rock feel gives the tone of this song a more open and free feel. The song starts out in the key of B minor.  Verse One 0:32 - The verses in this song consist of two parts. If you didn't know the song, you might almost think that the song was already leading into the chorus, yet it's still in the first verse, almost as if a mini-bridge was placed in between the verse's end and the chorus.  Chorus 1:06 & 2:10 & 3:21 - The free rock reigns free here in the chorus where the song really takes off and shows its true colors. The tone continues to be bass heavy, and the dynamics are continually loud, with clearly heard vocals and drums. The tempo is already pretty quick, but seems to pick up just a little through the chorus before the song moves into its next section.  Verse Two 1:35 - There is barely a beat skipped as the chorus leads right into the second verse. There is a high pitched second electric guitar solo heard in the beginning of the verse.  Bridge 2:41 - The bridge of this song is lead by a distinct bass solo accompanied by a slightly softer, but not second place, repetitious electric guitar solo, the same pattern repeated over and over behind the bass solo. The dynamics during this section of the piece are softer than the rest of the song, and the tone is softer as well.  End 4:09 - The end of the song slowly decrescendos out with a discernible hint of the bass and electric guitar solos we heard in the bridge until the last soft note of the song.
