They will turn their findings into a complete paragraph. Introduce theme of Slavery and answer question Relating to 5 W’s. Introduce Vocabulary on anchor chart. Go over literature circle roles and what is expected for each. Begin reading A-Z book section “Born a Slave” on Harriet Tubman as a class. Students will complete Lit. roles of: Predictor, Questioner and Literature Reactor. 3.RI.1 Mini Lesson on cause and effect using pages 6-7.
