2 Space Exploration Second graders are passionate about space and are planning a “Space Night” at CSA-Lincoln this Spring! Students will work in committees to plan skits, books, movies, poems, songs and artwork to share their love and knowledge of the planets, the moon phases, our solar system, fractions, day and night and the seasons! This week they will set committee goals and sign their committee contracts.

3 Noise Level 1 1. Monday 1. Discuss the Talk About It on page 194. 2. Read Why Sun and Moon Live in the Sky on pages 196 and 197 to learn the new vocabulary words. 2. Tuesday 1. Focus: Vocabulary and Problem and Solution 1. Read Pushing Up the Sky on pages 198-211. 3. Wednesday 1. Focus: ending and base words 2. Continue reading Pushing Up the Sky on pages 198-211. 3. Begin the comprehension packet for Pushing Up the Sky. 4. Thursday 1. Focus: Writing a play for our Space Night 2. Finish reading Pushing Up the Sky on pages 198-211. 3. Continue working on comprehension packet. Friday 1. Finish the comprehension packet for Pushing Up the Sky and turn into the reading file. Gather information for your topic and write the information in your own words in your research organizer. Be sure to record where you got your information. 3. Wednesday 1. Continue your space research. 4. Thursday 1. Continue your space research. 5. Friday 1. Complete your space research. Make sure you have 15-20 facts that you can use for your Space Night project. 5 Noise Level 0 1.Choose a library book or a book of choice that you have not read. 2.Be sure you picked a book that you can read alone. 3.Silently read. 4.After you finish your book, write the name of the book in your Data Binder. 5.Be sure to fill in the information about your book in your binder. 6.If you can answer all the questions in your Data Binder, get your laptop and log on to AR to take your test. 7.Record your AR score in your Data Binder. Follow the directions on Math Masters 254 Tuesday Use the cut out of the foot, ruler and decimeter to measure distances. Complete the page on class measurements using the different measuring devices.
