18 Homework Examples When in doubt – write it out Homework should be done in an orderly manner with all work shown. Parents should monitor daily progress on homework. Notes & examples

19 How to Help Your Student in Math: Ask to see their notes every day Check over homework for completion nightly Look for work and explanations “When in doubt – write it out”, “does my answer make sense” Students can make mistakes- encourage them to THINK!! Show them what you know Refer students to their notebooks or other resources when questions arise Dialogue with your students about math, DAILY! Gas mileage, rate of speed, unit prices, fractions of a whole, scores in the game you are watching, chance, probability, etc. Even if you aren’t good at math yourself!

20 Monthly Math Fact Speed Testing 2 ½ minutes, 100 facts Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division – 1 every Friday Graph with all other tests in data folders Highest grade per math fact recorded each quarter (10 points total) Accuracy is more important than speed PRACTICE AT HOME!
