13. Areas of Focus Small group tiered instruction in all reading classes The Data Team focuses on the lowest SOL strands for each grade level in reading and math based on benchmark tests. The Data Team provides specific intervention strategies for each SOL strand. Pearson training was facilitated by staff members for all K-5 math teachers in the building. In-School remediation is built into the master schedule for every grade level. After school tutoring will be offered to Tier II and Tier III students in Reading and Math starting in January 2013. 13

SUCCESSES In 2012 Grade 5 History scores increased 26 percentage points from previous year Grade 4 History scores increased 9 percentage points from previous year Grade 5 Science scores increased 13 points from previous year In 2012 students at Hillpoint scored 7 percentage points above the state average for math. In 2012 Black students scored 9 points above the state average for that subcategory. In 2012 Economically Disadvantaged students scored 6 points above the state average in math for that subcategory. Met or exceeded benchmarks on all State tests 16

17. Planning Ahead 45 Day Plan to address the needs of Tier II and Tier III students 45 days from the start of SOL testing. After school tutoring program for students in grades 2-5 in reading and math. Leadership and Data teams will review the effectiveness of the schools remediation and intervention plans. 17
