3 Simley High School’s Six Point Academic Vision Statement (Guiding Principles) ▶Equity – Ensuring equitable opportunities for all students. ▶College Readiness – Providing a rigorous and relevant curriculum that will prepare all students for post- secondary education. ▶Content Literacy – Supporting a school-wide focus on reading, writing, critical thinking, technology, and problem-solving skills in all content areas. ▶Relationships – Ensuring that programs strengthen student, staff, families, and community relationships. ▶Collaborative Support – Facilitating professional collaboration to support and ensure the academic achievement of all students. ▶ Partnerships – Working with businesses and community members to optimize support provided to students. Simley High School’s mission is to prepare every student to earn a degree or credential at a post- secondary educational institution.

16 Expansion of Inver Prep into 11 th Grade Mathematics: 2 sections of Pre-Calc Trigonometry (meets requirement for IHCC Math 820) Concurrent Enrollment 11 th Grade (Intro to Literature and Writing & Research Skills) 29 students received 8 transcripted college credits New concurrent enrollment courses for 2014-2015: Statistics (4 credits), The Research Paper (4 credits), World Literature (4 credits) 117 students enrolled in concurrent enrollment 2014- 2015

19  Trimester 1 ◦ 2012-2013: 65 students with one or more “F” grade – 22.7% ◦ 2013-2014: 74 students with one or more “F” grade - 25.4%  Trimester 2 ◦ 2012-2013: 80 students with one or more “F” grade – 27.9% ◦ 2013-2014: 73 students with one or more “F” grade – 26.2%  Trimester 3 ◦ 2012-2013: 89 students with one or more “F” grade – 32.0% ◦ 2013-2014: 81 students with one or more “F” grade – 28.9%

20 RtI Specifics: – Lowest 25% of class given additional Specific Literacy Instruction – Pre and Post data Through AIMS and MAP Benchmark 3 times a year and Progress Monitoring every 2 weeks * 175 students were monitored for literacy growth in grades 9-12 * 64 students were monitored for math growth in grades 9-12 Data is used to individualize instruction

21 Made sure all Simley PRIDE signs were displayed. (Re)Introduced Simley PRIDE to all students. We believe in encouraging Personal responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Excellence to create a supportive learning environment Nominated students for the Simley PRIDE award. Students received letters at home acknowledging they had been nominated and were recognized on Spartan Spotlight. Two PBIS stories are being completed each month for Spartan Spotlight.
