1 WELCOME TO MISS LOU’S CLASS (DAY 1) Class Expectations and Procedures

2 Quickly find a seat! Seating chart will be provided second week of school.

3 Attendance Please take out a piece of paper, folded in three, and make a name tag! Take out name tags for the first two weeks of school. -Collect name tags end of class.

4 DO NOW On a blank sheet of paper, respond to the prompt below. You do not have to copy the prompt. Do not stop writing until you are instructed to do so. How are you feeling about the upcoming school year? Do you have fears? Concerns? What are you excited about? What are your goals? Tell me anything you’d like me to know about yourself or about expectations for the year. We’ll return to this activity at the end of class.

27 Creating Classroom Rules Creating Classroom Rules In 6 groups of 4-5 students, answer the following question on the piece of paper: What rules do we need to have to create a safe and happy learning environment? (for teachers & students) Create Brainstorm Bubbles- list as many as you can! 20 minutes.

28 Creating Classroom Rules As a group, circle top 5 ideas from your poster. Share with class. Write on class poster. Teacher will create a classroom rules/guideline from YOU!

34 DO NOW When you enter the door, what four things do you need to do? Summarize the rules that you created with your classmates. List 3 important ones. Extra Time: Draw a picture for each rule. (I can maybe use it for the poster!)

42 Essential Supplies Take out your agenda and copy down essential supplies from the board FIRST GRADE! SUPPLY CHECK on Thursday (Period 1/3/5) Friday (Periods 2/6)
