Location  The Ocean is located all over the world.

The Ocean is houses over a Billion different animal species. Role In the Environment The heat capacity of the ocean is approximately 1000 times as large as that of the atmosphere. The ocean transports heat with its current, supplies energy to the atmosphere, dissolves various substances to create chemical reactions, and supports huge variety of creatures, thereby plays a dominant role in stabilizing global environment and maintaining life on this planet.

Sea Snail: Eat algae in the ocean. Shark: They keep the population of fish from getting over populated. Sea Turtles: Eat sea grass in the ocean so fish can lay their eggs. Star Fish: Eat algae in the ocean that kills other fish. Sponges: Act as a filter on the ocean floor.

 Gills take oxygen out of the water so that fish can breathe under water  Fish have streamlined shape as well as a tail and fins to help them move easily and quicker through the water.  A swim bladder (Liver) helps the fish control its buoyancy and stay at a certain ocean depth.  Mammals don’t have gills but can hold their breathe for long periods of time.  Mammals are warm blooded and need insulation to maintain there body heat.

 Barnacles and Whales compete over plankton.  Sea Turtles and Barnacles fight over territory. Barnacles attach them selves to Sea Turtles.  Sharks compete over food and kill each other over limited food resources.  Angels fish fight over territory and if they are to close to each other they will kill each other

Human Destruction  Boating pollution kills animals by releasing fumes from the exhaust.  Ocean dumping like human waste, ground up garbage, and water from bathing and plastics.  Car pollution can also kill fish.  Agricultural pollution from pesticides.  Industry pollution from factories

Harvested Material  Fish  Shrimp  Crabs  Sea Weed
