5 WHEN AND WHERE MIGHT YOU NEED TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF? Picking up a job application Meeting your girl/boyfriend’s family and/or friends Probation officer Judge- Court Teacher – First day of school Principal On the street At a party First day on the job, coworkers. Just about EVERYWHERE

7 LET’S REVIEW THE STEPS: 1.Choose the right time & place. 2.Be confident and secure 3.Make eye contact, SMILE, approach 4.Greet person & tell them your name. “Hi, my is ____________________” 5.If appropriate, give firm handshake 6.Ask for the other person’s name 7.Repeat their name, “It’s nice to meet you Mrs. _________” 8.Tell something about yourself or ask a question - something to help start a conversation. 9.After you’ve met someone, it is important to say, “It was nice to meet you, _______.”

9 INTERVIEW PEER I will partner you with someone When I tell you, you may turn to interview your partner. Properly introduce yourself with a SMILE Shake hands (if you are comfortable) Decide who will be answering/asking questions first Be sure to spell your peer’s name correctly. Be prepared to introduce your partner to the class ** Teacher- pass out Peer Interview form (if time)- this may take 2 days
