1 People of the Eastern Woodlands

2 The Eastern Woodland Native American’s Clothing
The Eastern Woodland people used deer, elk, and bear skin as clothing.

3 Eastern Woodland Native American Homes
The Eastern Woodland homes were made out of trees bent and tied together by vines. Native Americans who lived in warm climates used cat tails on the bottom of their homes to circulate air. People who lived in colder climates used tree bark, mud, and clay to protect them from the precipitation and the coldness.

4 What The Eastern Woodland Native Americans Ate
The Eastern Woodlands people ate deer, elk, fish, and bear. They also added herbs to flavor their foods. People grew corn, beans, and squash.

5 What did Eastern Woodland People Use as Weapons
They sharpened flint for knives, spears, and arrowheads. They used stone axes as weapons.

6 Eastern Woodlands Indians Religions
People of the Eastern Woodland worshiped many gods. They thanked their gods for providing them food, hunting, supplies, etc… They often burned sage to honor their blessings.

7 Eastern Woodlands Native American’s Language
Different tribes spoke different languages. They spoke similar languages like, Cayuga, Onondaga, and Oneida.

8 What The Eastern Woodlands People Did For Fun
Men taught the boys hunting skills by allowing them to play spear throwing games. Women taught girls how to make baskets and dolls. Sometimes boys and girls played running games and lacrosse together.

9 Eastern Woodland Environment
The Eastern Woodlands had the Appalachian Mountains, trees, and waterways (rivers, lakes, Atlantic Ocean, and streams ).They also had animals such as (squirrels, bear, deer, elk, and fish etc..)

10 Eastern Woodlands Indians Jobs
The Eastern Woodland men would go out to hunt. The women would stay home to weave the baskets and to build their homes. The women would also make a fire for warmth and to cook food when the men got home.

11 The Eastern Woodlands Indians Traditions
The Eastern Woodlands people had many traditions. When one of the Indians got sick they used herbs and roots to heal. They also called among the spirit world. They often chose their chief by their bravery.

12 Summary Eastern Woodlands people wore clothing made of the animals they hunted such as deer, elk, and bear. The Eastern Woodlands people made their homes out of animal hides and tree bark. The Eastern Woodlands people ate Elk, Deer, Fish, and Bear. The Eastern Woodlands people used weapons such as bows and arrows, axes (hatchets), spears etc… They have a special religion that is not like ours they worship many gods instead of one.
