Justin Blackwell & Lindsey Robinson The Flying Disc (Blackwell) I heard a recording on the newest link on the All Things That Matter page. I new that president Franklin D Roosevelt's health was in great decline during the end of his presidency, but I never stopped to think of how much willpower this man must of had. He was leading our nation through World War II while fighting his illness, He managed to change the world even as he could no longer walk. What an inspiring individual. It goes to show that people can do just about anything with enough intelligence and willpower. (Robinson) Well when I was at the banking making a deposit, I usually always have one of the ladies, but I forgot both of their names; well I had this nice gentleman help me and he was very kind, like I wish most of the guys at our school were as nice as he was…. He asked me what I did and I told him that I was in CBL and helping out Ben and Kelly at the Flying Disc. He told him to tell him more about it so I did. I told him that CBL was a class going out to different places and exploring what you do and to think if this is what you really want to do when you graduate from high school, or even college. So then he asked me if I was going to college and I said well yes of course, and he asked me what I wanted to major in and I said I have not a clue yet, and then he was like well there's nothing wrong with that….,

Skyler Blaney & Ryan Harrness (Blaney) My goal for the future of working on the farm is to clearly understand why we do what we do. Things such as cutting trees for more land to have more crops to feed our cows on the farms. Why we use the dragline in all the fields we can get it too, all the precautions on how far away you have to be to spread next to a river. Why cows get sick and what they have and how to heal them. (Harrness) Last week we were working on the barn. We need to start working in the sugar bush when we are done working in the barn. We need to work on the lines because of fallen down trees…Common sense is being quiet. When you have a big group you should sit down and be quiet. I think this class is way too big. It is important for everyone to sit down. People should check in more during the day. So there are less people in this class…My goal for this year is to have the barn and sugar bush running as efficient as I can. Dairy Farms & Sugar Woods

Dillon Boivin & Maria Perez (Boivin) This past couple of weeks I have been helping to renovate a house with Robert Larose. He is one of the contractors there, and I have been working with him to build the house. Some of the things that I have been doing there is painting, bringing in cabinets, raking, and planting. All these things I like to do. Renovations at Perley House

Cody Bombardier & Megan Callan (Bombardier) My goal for CBL is to learn more about animals and how to help diagnose any problems, hands on rather than trying to learn from a textbook. I feel like this will be a great opportunity because I will be able to talk to vets with many years of experience and knowledge in the field. I should be able to learn what classes they had to take, how hard the classes were, how they feel about their job, how they handle hard situations, and what goes through their mind when they have to put an animal down (Callan) I noticed an x-Ray on the board. The nurse said they think the dog had gotten hit by a car and broke something in its pelvis are. It’s pretty interesting, seeing what could happen in such big/small accidents. So far it's been amazing being able to go over to The Animal Doctor. The Animal Doctor

Caitlyn Callan Last Monday, I was told to groom 2 draft horses. There was a black one and a chestnut one. The only name I know is Reuben. He is the black draft horse. These animals were so huge it took me the whole period to brush them down. The hardest part was their hooves. They were the biggest hooves I have ever seen on a horse. I am used to little mustang and quarter horse hooves. I have learned that having a larger horse takes more time than a smaller horse. I would also like to have draft horse when I get older because I've had a good experience with them. Unicorn Stables

Consider Your Future From Outside The Classroom

Kyle Cota My goal is to stay at Vaillancourt Transport. I actually want to become a diesel mechanic and get to know these big rigs a little better. I think this is the best place to start at. I am very interested in working on stuff like this. I do a lot of work that deals with motors there and have done a lot of everything. Vaillancourt Transport, LLC

Justen Curtis The Front Page was great. Nice job! I read them each week, but I run out of time to write on this CBL Wiki, so here it goes. I have stripped one cab (the gas job) and have now started to pull the motor out of one of the trucks I use for parts. I’ve moved the other truck with the transmission in it and the turbo to the front of the shop in order to start stripping the interior out of it. I’ll also pull the cab off to get the transmission and interior out of it, then put it into mine. To make the transmission fit I have to cut the floor. Inquiry: Auto Mechanics

Roman Daybell & Brandyn Robtoy Physical Education at EFHS (Daybell) At the Perley house I have been doing a lot of work. I have made a few mistakes but that’s the whole learning process. Also the people treat me very well. I am liking my time there. The lady named Anna is very nice. She is kind, understanding, and a very thoughtful person. I have only met her once, but she brings out a vibe that is welcoming. Nonetheless, my present goal is to go somewhere else. (Robtoy) When Mr. Bestie teaches he brings his past sports experiences to his teaching. He sounds like he was a very active kid. He seems to know a lot about the different sports that he is teaching us. When he is teaching a sport that some people don't like participation in then he makes a non-competitive group so that they don't have to feel left out. This really helps the class to be more organized during the sport that they are playing.

Cameron Geddes Parent Dairy Farm I noticed in this week’s front page post that there are many students going to Bates Farm, Home, and Garden for CBL. Bates must like all the help they can get from CBL students. The pictures of each of the students working at Bates looked as if each student was enjoying their time there. I also noticed that two other students go to Johnson’s auto shop.

Kevin Domina Sticks & Stuff I see a lot of art, also pictures of different people; some I know and some I don’t know. I enjoy working with my hands like with automotive and construction, also drawing... Today during CBL I took a little stroll down to the learning center for a visit with the teacher of that class, Mrs Marshall. We got caught up talking about my past years and also talking about what my goals are this year and how and what I’m going to do in order to achieve these goals.

Cultivate Playful Youth/Adult Partnerships

Amethyst Duffy & Vanessa Parrotte (Duffy) So today I went back to the Elementary School and worked with Mrs. Tracey. We worked in testing skills, how I study for tests, how I take notes, and how I do other assignments at school. She actually had a sub today, so I did most of the teaching, which is pretty cool. I am excited to be working with these children. I had a really fun time … and I'm am excited to become a third grade teacher! … I'm glad that I did this program. Doing CBLhas made it more clear to me that being an Elementary School teacher is what I really want to do! (Parrotte) At the daycare I enjoy it a lot because when I first walk in all the kids run up to me and give me a hug. I also like how I get to help out in the baby section because all the babies are so cute. I love or play with them and care for them. I also really like playing with the 3 and 4 year old kids I like reading to them, building, and talking with them is so much fun. Today in the baby section Carson was wild. He loves to run around and play all the time. He is so cute. He is 1and a couple of months old. He is a hyper baby. I love when he smiles. This is what I love most about the daycare is seeing the children smile. In Transition

Athena Harris Inquiry: 9 th Grade English These past two weeks have been hard, my transition period in CBL has been incredibly difficult. Last week I made a choice to change the course of my CBL projects and tried to find another interest to pursue but was unable to successfully execute this new plan causing me great frustration and anxiety. I hate not having a solid plan but due to the complicated nature of my ambitions there was almost no chance of me being able to follow through.... I am quietly learning in the classroom with the other kids, even though I am not quite active with them as much as I had thought I would be. I enjoy seeing them learn.

Kyle Kittell I went to Bonds yesterday and it was a good time. Jerry had me go and grab a bunch of parts and bring them to him. I like doing that because it helps me figure out where stuff is. Then they had me help a older guy named Burt. I helped him unload a bunch of stuff and put it all in the proper place. I had a pretty good time and I'm excited to go back on Friday. Bond Auto Parts

Leah Legasse & Kayla Westover (Lagasse) Leah has just recently enrolled in CBL. She is laarning to navigate the CBL Wiki this week and getting to know the staff at Eats of Enosburgh. (Westover) Today I went to eats and I love it there. The manager was so welcoming and laid back. So was the cooks there. He said I can get started there on Tuesday and do stuff like dishes, clean around, etc. then eventually I can get stated with making stuff like bread, pancake batter, and everything else. I am so happy that I finally found a place and I love it there. I can't wait to get started. Eats of Enosburgh

Morgan Lockerby & Matt Woods (Lockerby) I like the pictures with tractors on them. I chose this because I like to work on them.like doing stuff with agriculture… At Bates I sweep a lot. Matt and I are managers of the broom closet. That’s what we call ourselves. (Woods) We went to Bates and swept floors. I am now manager of the broom closet. I stacked grain bags yesterday....The internet creed states that I will not participate in bullying on the internet. Bates Farm, Home, & Garden

Make Music, Sing Songs with Friends! Borrow The CBL Guitar

Riley Kane & Hayden McNall (Kane) Yes, we are both bow hunters. I have not got a deer yet. All were too small to shoot, so I passed them up. Josh has had a week off from Bates to go hunting. He has not shot a deer yet either. He has passed up a few deer, too, and had one buck that was too far away to shoot. It has been a good week at Bates this week.We have been very busy. (McNall) I am stacking a lot and getting to know a lot of people. I like working at Bates and would like to work their eventually. My goal now is to work hard at Bates and to understand the organization as to where everything goes in the store. Bates Farm, Home, & Garden

Jake Jacobs & Ethan McNall Mountain View Auto Body Repair and Sign (Jacobs) I work at Mountain View Auto Body Repair.... We are painting an 1998 ford power-stroke black dump box with blue cab. Recently, we worked on taking the silence ring out of my turbo.... Sometimes we have been in the woods, where we stacked wood. (McNall) I am very interested in sugaring and operating machinery.... Jake and I have been working on painting a truck for Charley Thomas.

Josie Kendrick Inquiry: Journalism Here I am at Eats of Enosburgh. I have ordered my food, which is just simple home fries. The atmosphere is very homey and comfortable, the decorations are simple yet pretty. The food is absolutely magnificent, the home fries are very lightly seasoned and not to crunchy but not to soft. These home fries are absolutely delicious. The waitress, Kelly, is very kind and outgoing. She is a great waitress. I really enjoyed coming over here. Seeing Kayla working so hard is a real treat. She laughs and has fun with the other cooks.

Monica Lawyer October 31 is Halloween. About three days ago my mom found Litzy, soon to be the highest producer in the herd, but right now she is only three months old. Litzy is my goat. Litzy had coccidia, and it was really bad. My mom wasn't sure if she could save her from dying. Today I went out today to take care of the goats for CBL and she was dead. She had died in the night. Another goat got coccidia, but it's not as bad, so my mom thinks she will be fine after a couple of days. But I bet you don't want me to talk about sick or dead goats. So I today I also found Butterscotch’s baby it is brown with black markings on the face and legs. There were two that were identical to that description, so I had to figure out who was the real Butterscotch. Boston Post Dairy

Caleb Metivier During the past two weeks I have been working all around the shop. I have put together some weed whackers and some chainsaw boxes. I just bought a 3 wheeler the other day, but it does not run. My mentor Jimmy Gendron offered to let me bring it in some day, so we can work on it there. If I were to bring it some where else is would cost close to $500, but if I bring it there it would be free. I really enjoy going to B & N's and probably next year, when I have a car, I might just work there. B & N Sales & Repairs

Kaitlyn Murray This week at the elementary school various things happened. On Wednesday, when I got back into the classroom, I helped the students individually on their worksheets in order to help them catch up. Then, we did some independent reading and I read with a little girl named Jaiden and heard about her camping trip. Today, I didn't do as much, but I did help the students on reading, if they didn't know a word. Then I listened to them talk about the main ideas of the books they were reading. To touch on ALLY week and pride, I think it's a great idea, and it's good for our community to make everybody feel welcome and safe in our school. Second Grade at EES

Dawson Perley Now that soccer season is over I am ready for basketball, and I am now starting indoor soccer. Our last game against GMVS didn't go so well with a 3-1 loss, but our second to last game went amazing after a 2-1 win in the last minute. We had an in-direct free kick and my teammate Mahlik had tapped it to me and I took a shot. It went just by the goalie into the bottom right corner. I had made the game winning goal with about 1:12 left in the game. My only goal for basketball season is to either score over 100 points or score a game winning goal. Inquiry: Coaching

Brooke Plantier Over the last couple of weeks I have been going over to the elementary school and helping Mrs. Allen. I enjoy going over there and helping her out. She gives me things to do that will be helpful to her and the plans that we are going to do that day. I like how she always has things planned and I am looking forward to continuing seeing her during the week. This is making learning more fun and enjoyable, It also teaches me a lot about the kind of things like and how the children tend to act. Library at EES

Dillon Powers Today I talked with the tech guys and mr. Bushey and have set up a plan to split it. I am going to be with the tech guys for one CBL period and Mr. Bushey the other and alternate throughout the year. I also talked with Mr. Bushey about future projects that I will do with him, such as helping him upgrade computers and then assisting him with projects on those. This is my plan for the rest of my future CBL career as an intern. Multimedia Lab & Computer Games

Brayden Ransom I'm still interested in visiting the Folk Life Center soon with my mother. In the mean time I plan to set up interviews and learn about communicating with others as well as the skills I must have in order to communicate affectively. So far I have reached out to a few teachers, and made a list of the questions I want to ask those who I interview. For the future I plan to actually start interviewing and posting the interviews on my wiki page. Inquiry: Photography/Interviews

Brainstorm & Implement Your Own Special Project

Jenessa Ryea I'm really enjoying working at the daycare. I'm learning a lot of new things about childcare. Some of the kids are really growing on me. The adults really like having me there because I'm very patient with the kids who don't listen and I handle situations well. I'm spending a lot of my time there. Hopefully I will continue working there for quite a while. Brenda’s Giggles & Grins

Sylvia St. Cyr At Parkside I have been doing things like putting cream cheese in cups and then marking them. I have also been washing dishes. I like helping out at Parkside....On Sunday i was sick. But now I am better....Today I am going to talk to Cathy about my goals, about what I want to accomplish this year.... My goal for this year is to get to learn how to do more cooking things. Parkside Grill

Jeanessa St. Pierre Day four we did the test with a class of fourth graders and it went quite well! It was really amusing to see how the kids reacted. Four out of the ten kids ate the marshmallows within the first five minutes but none ate them after that. The kids all reacted different ways and had their own ways to hold back from eating the marshmallows including playing with them, smelling them, licking them, and working with each other to stop from eating them. It was definitely a different experience but it went really well! I also started to hang out with a little girl that doesn't really get to hang out with any one except her grandmother so I am sort of mentoring for her and helping her to work on her writing. So far working at the elementary school has been great! Inquiry: School Psychologist at EES

Justin Soule My work with Brig so far has been going great! He has had me doing things such as painting lines and preparing for soccer games. He has been giving me the true athletic director experience! The other day I created this year’s middle school basketball schedule and also created pay vouchers for the refs of our soccer games. Occasionally I will count money from the snack shack and help brig with his other jobs such as taking down the batting cage outside of school. I really think I made a good choice in going with Brig, seeing how we connect very well! Have a good weekend! Inquiry: Role of Athletic Director at EFHS

Isaac Swan & Mitch Vaillancourt (Swan) This past weekend I began to work on my future project of making my own duck call. I did a lot of studying on which type of wood works the best, and in my research I found tags kiln dried oak works great. The oak wood is very durable and has great sound retention. I've got the sections of wood I need, I have a 3x3x5 section and a 2x2x6 section for the sound board. My next step is to get a wood lathe, carving tools, wood sealer, reed material and a drill press. If the duck call works well than I would definately consider making more and selling them to profit for wildlife research and wildlife conservation. (Vaillancourt) I checked out Sterling College once and I thought it was cool. I don't know if I'd consider it but will do some more research on it to come to a better conclusion. Last weekend we finished chopping and packing corn into the bunkers. This week I have been doing the usual but we have been focusing on the deer camp a lot. I have learned more about roofing, and strapping structures. I have also learned and practiced board on board and battening of siding. On Tuesday I went and got 250 1x6x12 footers from my uncle at Lussiers sawmill. I helped load up the trailer and all that good jazz. I must say I've gotten quite good at backing trailers. I enjoy what I do and it makes me feel good to have built something with everyone. Inquiry: Traditional & Organic Farming

Kyle Thompson. Hannaford Market It has been fun working at Hannaford’s. Everyone is really nice there. I can't wait until Tuesday, when I go back, hopefully, to learn something new. Last time I learned how to block the shelves.

John Tiffany. I go to the farm and work on the sugar bush or the farm with my dad and my uncles. I also go to see Ms. Downes and work on farm management.... I go visit farms to see how they do things and how we could do something different or the same way we do it.... This week the forestry and ag since class went down to Randolph and judged soils and the texture the grade and the stony and we did if we could plant crops and grass and the housing elements of the soil. I also meet with people about how to change hands with the farm and how to do it and been making a list of roles on the farm and who does what on the farm. Inquiry: Agriculture Science at CHCC

Michael Watcke My learning goal is to learn how to use the various types of code to make video games. I have learned a lot about coding on my own and plan to continue doing so, but I want to learn how to bring it all together to make a game. My goal in life is to become a great video game designer like the great Atsuko Nishida who designed several pokemon and dragon ball characters in Both the games and the anime. Inquiry: Graphic Arts at CHCC
