10. HISTORY Originally Hungary was inhabited by GERMAN and SLAVIK people. During the 10. CENTURY a. C. it was invaded by Asiatic nomads, the MAGIARI that created the Hungarian Reign. At the beginning of the 16th CENTURY, Hungary was conquered by the OTTOMANS. From 1668 to 1918 Hungary was under Austrian domination. In 1918 it became independent. After WWII, the Communist Party took control of the country and the Soviet Union suppressed the opposition. The Communist government ended only in 1989.
