1. The Continuous Aspect Is used for four reasons:
1. An action which is in progress (happening now, or around now, or at a specific time in the past or future)
2. An interrupted action.
2. A temporary action
3. A trend, changing action or situation

1. An action which is in progress (happening at a specific time)
She can’t go to the party because she’s studying for the Gateway Exam.
Tomorrow morning we’ll be swimming in Antalya.
What were you doing last night? I was listening to music.

3. The Continuous Aspect
Can also be used for repeated actions that are happening around now.
We’re watching Desperate Housewives. It’s on TV every Tuesday night at 9.
I’m studying English so I can pass the Proficiency Exam.
Birds are singing and bees are buzzing so summer must be here!

4. The Continuous Aspect 2. An interrupted action
Every morning, when I am having a shower, the phone rings!
I was living in London when I met my wife.
They were robbing the bank when the police arrived.

5. The Continuous Aspect 3. A temporary action
She was living in a hotel while her house was being painted.
Can’s taking the bus until his car is fixed.
I’ll be living in the dormitory until I find a flat.

Because of Global Warming, temperatures are rising
