2 Canolfan Conway Centre Llanfairpwll Anglesey LL61 6DJ Aims and Objectives ‘The value of educational visits is widely acknowledged. Often these experiences will be remembered as a high point in a person’s school life.’ We have carefully planned this residential course in collaboration with the staff of the Canolfan Conway Centre and we aim to provide the children with exciting and rewarding experiences that will: Promote children’s personal and social skills. Enhance the study of Year 5 curriculum areas.

3 Accompanying Staff Bexton Primary Staff named staff accompanying the visit so far will be Mr Dolan, Mrs Evans, Mrs Sach, Mrs Snook. Additional adults will be accompanying us to support the children. The Conway Centre provides 24 hour cover by duty staff for emergencies. They also provide a first - aider on site at all times. The children will work in groups of up to 10 according to the activities undertaken. In addition to a member of the Centre staff, a member of the Bexton Primary School Team will be present at all times to help supervise the activities being undertaken.

4 *.*. 02.04.9.15 am leave Bexton Primary School, 11:00 visit Conwy Castle, tour and lunch. A Arrive Canolfan Conway Centre around 4:00 pm. Introduction and orientation by Centre staff including Fire Safety routines. Evening activities. 03.04.Indoor and outdoor activities at the Centre. Evening activities. 04.04.Indoor and outdoor activities at the Centre. Return to Bexton Primary School in time for normal end of school day.

8 Originally the centre was designed as a merchant marine training school for boys. It was opened in 1964 by His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh in order to replace HMS Conway a three masted, two deck sailing ship. As such the centre is unusual in having a wealth of indoor teaching/work facilities together with a wealth of on site locations situated in an unrivalled environment.

11 Detailed Kit List- AS MUCH LABELLED AS POSSIBLE! Comfortable travelling clothes- Please pay heed to the weather report –warm clothes or sun-cream and hats depending upon the weather- we are outside both for eating lunch and at the castle. Trainers on feet please- we will be walking on uneven floors.  Three further changes of clothes – trousers/jeans, T-shirt  Two fleeces/jumpers  Underwear, socks  Nightwear  Towel  Toothbrush/toothpaste  Hairbrush  Pair of trainers or walking boots (on top of the shoes that they have travelled in)  Reading book  Small teddy to go to sleep with  Waterproof coat, hat, gloves  Sun-cream / sun hat / lip balm (the children can get very sore lips due to being outside  Labelled water bottle  Small amount of sweets Any specialist equipment required, including wellies, climbing shoes, sailing gear etc. will be provided by the Centre.

12 Cost The cost of this residential stay and the accompanying visits is approximately £155. This covers all food and transport costs, as well as insurance. Methods of Payment Payment may be done in a single payment of £155 (cheques payable to Cheshire East) or by instalments (£10 minimum) with an initial deposit of £35, payable by Friday 6 th December please. We ask that instalment payments are made in an envelope and each child will be issued with a receipt each time a payment is received. Full payment must be made by Fri 14 th March 2014.
