White Hall Residential Visit October 21 st – 23 rd 2015

White Hall Licensed Outdoor & Adventurous Activity Centre Derbyshire – between Buxton & Whaley Bridge Owned & managed by Derbyshire County Council Established 1950’s One of the most experienced OAA centres in the world!

Activities Includes: Night hike Stream Scrambling Canoeing Mountain Biking Orienteering Other centre based activities Dependant on weather conditions All thoroughly risk assessed & run by qualified centre staff

Time Table: Wednesday 8.50 arrive school & register 9.15 Admin – car allocation, collection of medicine etc. 9.30 depart school 10.15 Fernilee / Errwood Res – walk – 5 mile walk 2pm Whitehall – Introductions / accommodation / kit / Groups

Time Table: Thursday Breakfast Activities: Year 5: Canoe / Rock Scrambling & Climbing wall / zip wire Year 6: Ropes / Mountain Biking & Canoe / Rock Scrambling Dinner Secret Agents

Time Table: Friday Pack and clear dormitories Final activities at the centre Year 5: Ropes / Problem solving Year 6: Abseiling Equipment return

Time Table: Friday Course Review Depart White Hall 2pm Return Rowsley approximately 2.30 – 3.00 pm Children can be collected on return

Accommodation Single sex dormitories / areas Male / female / staff - toilets / washrooms / showers Dorms to be organised by RPS staff to ensure ‘good mixes’.

Food Breakfast/lunch/dinner/supper ‘Family Service’ style Given jobs to help with preparation & tidying up Chef on site / local produce Packed lunch required for first day (and back pack to carry it) (including re-useable drinking bottle)

Other Facilities 2 lounges Games room Table Tennis / football table Plenty of safe, outdoor space One night only – gift shop (Maximum £5)

Kit Children will require: Suitable clothing for the Wednesday walk & a packed lunch Wellingtons for water work (they will be very wet by the end!) Weather appropriate clothing (several sets!) Footwear for inside the centre & ‘easy’ on shoes for outside Black bag for wet clothes (stream scramble / rain!) A teddy bear (essential!)

Other Requests Name/label EVERYTHING – No really! EVERYTHING! No electronic games or mobiles We only contact in Emergency cases – we will send texts! £5 only in named purse/wallet Medication in named/labelled bag – Wednesday am We will need help with transport, please!
