5 Team Selection Team selections will be made by 9/4. This gives us almost two full weeks to observe the athletes. All teams are fluid and players can move up or down. We will place players on teams and in positions that will give them the best opportunity to play. Emphasis on the C and B Team’s will be to develop fundamental skills with as much playing time as possible.

6 Athletic Booster Club Our booster club is imperative to our Athletic program. The quality of uniforms and equipment that CTMS has could not be purchased with our budget. The fundraisers that we do in Athletics go directly to the CTMS Booster club. All athletes are expected to participate in the fundraisers. Just as all athletes benefit from the new uniforms and nice equipment purchased by the fundraiser. We are very intentional about spending the money raised by current students. Our Booster club has purchased football, basketball, volleyball, and cross country/track uniforms over the past two years. Example of costs football jerseys ($10,000- $13,000), Track uniforms($9,000), Volleyball uniforms ($5,000). We buy helmets, shoulder pads, volleyball poles and nets, championship banners, and many other items with booster club funds.

7 Communication We will use Remind101 this year for daily updates or reminders. Remind101 will send a text message to your device from the head coach of that grade level and sport. You may reply back to the text message and it will go directly to the Head Coach of that sport. You may also send an to the appropriate coach with any questions you may have about the team/practice information sent through Remind101. Volleyball 7th - text to with the Volleyball 8th - text to with the Girls Athletics – text to with the

8 Cell Phone Policy In order to align our cell phone policies with those of Grapevine High School Athletics, we will not allow cell phones to be used while other games are being played. Athletes will check their phone in at 3:30pm and they will be returned after the final game of the night. This includes tournaments as well. We will have a school phone available for athletes to use if an emergency does arise. This policy is to encourage team building, ability to focus, and allows all players to cheer for their teammates.

9 Academics/Behavior As a member of our Wolves athletic program, you are held to higher standards. Student-athletes will: Not receive referrals or detentions. Pass ALL classes. (Failing will cause the student to be ineligible to play-per UIL rules and regulations.) Will work to do their best in all classes. Act as ladies and gentlemen in class and act in a respectful manner to all teachers. ***Failing grades, low conduct marks, and referrals/d-halls will be addressed with extra conditioning and extra tutorials.

10 Dress Code Practice Attire: You need to wear black shorts, gray wolf shirt, and athletic shoes (shirts, shorts, and sweats are offered online). (NO jewelry can be worn. Please keep all items in your locker) Game Attire: You will need to wear your issued uniform (jersey, shorts, and warm-up top) and athletic shoes. Game Day Attire: On game days athletes will be required to wear team shirts and jeans throughout the school day. Order forms to purchase these shirts will be passed out and ed in the fall.

11 Sportsmanship & Attitude
Treat your teammates and coaches like you want them to treat you- with respect, dignity, and tolerance. The team comes ahead of any person on the team. Do your best to help your teammates play better. We expect you to display good sportsmanship at all times. Bring a positive attitude to every practice and game, regardless of whether the team is winning or losing games. We expect players and parents to provide unconditional enthusiasm throughout the season. Do your best every time you walk on the court. Your teammates and coaches are counting on you.

12 Absences When you play a team sport, you’re committed to attend every practice and game. When you’re absent you miss a chance to improve and help the team. If you miss a practice for any reason your playing time will be decreased.

13 Transportation GCISD will provide transportation to and from all athletic events with the exception of the Zone Vball & BBall Tournaments. All players are expected to ride the bus to each game. They may check out with their coach after ALL three games have finished. It is important that we support each other as a program. Athletes will be able to work on homework at games in the stands and must remain in the stands or designated area during games when they are not playing.

14 Athlete/Parent Concerns
The policies that have been provided are important for a successful program. However, the key to a successful program comes from communication between the coaches and parents, the coaches and athletes, and the athletes and parents. We encourage the parents to share in their child’s athletic experience and help make it a positive and rewarding one. We do ask that you follow the proper chain of command if a situation arises that would require the need to speak to a coach. Any concerns or questions by an athlete or parent should be brought to the attention of the proper coach in the following order: Have the athlete talk to the coach. Then # Parent conference with the coach involved. THEN # Parent conference with the campus Athletic Coordinator. THEN # Parent conference with the Asst. Principal in charge of athletics. THEN # Parent conference with the Campus Principal. Those who choose to not follow the above procedure will be directed back by the administration to the level skipped. We know that conflict does arise and it often arises at a game/meet. Please refrain from confronting a coach at the conclusion of a game/meet. We ask that you observe the 24 hour rule. This will allow for all parties to reflect on the situation prior to meeting.

15 Game Day Meal Forms Our Booster club does a wonderful job of finding the best deals. Thank you Mrs. Davies for organizing this year! Please fill out the meal form and return with the payment as soon as possible. The meals will cost $6.50/meal or $58.50 for all games and there will be a meal provided before every game. We will need parent volunteers to pick up meals and deliver them to the athletes in the cafeteria on game days. All game day meals brought by parents need to be delivered to front office. Students may not wait by gym doors.

16 Volunteers/Concession Stand Workers
We will need parents to sign up to help with Concession Stand Workers throughout the entire year. The coaching staff will set up a “Sign-Up Genius” online, however, we will need a parent for each sport to help organize this fundraiser. We would not be able to have a concession stand if it weren’t for you, so thank you in advance for your help!

17 7th and 8th Grade Schedules

18 What if my son or daughter doesn’t make a team?
Basketball is the only cut sport, so if your child doesn’t make the team they will run cross country.

19 Basketball/Cross Country/Track/Tennis
Information for the remaining sports will come out as that season draws near. In middle school athletics one sport ends, we have a day to take up equipment, and then the next sport begins. All athletes not participating in that particular season will work out in offseason during their athletic period. Our offseason program is a not sport specific and is designed to develop overall athletic conditioning of our athletes.

20 Tennis The tennis team is open to all academically eligible 7th and 8th graders.  Spring Tennis at CTMS is a non-cut sport, so there are no tryouts. The spring season will count as a sport for Athletics.   If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Coach Maupin at any time.  Michael Maupin – Glen Hope PE teacher/ Tennis Coach –
