Each stroke cycle must contain one pull and one kick in that order. During each cycle some part of the swimmer’s head must break the surface of the water. A butterfly kick is ONLY permitted after the start and at each turn: 1. Upon the finish of the race the swimmer must touch the wall while on the back (ie. May not roll over past 90 degrees).

This must bring the swimmer to the surface. There is no limit on the number of butterfly kicks executed. The head must have broken the surface not more than 15m after the start or turn.

Watch that strokes are swum in proper sequence.
