1 How to Make a Power Point By Jeff Hinton Go to Slide 2. (You can get there by going to VIEW – SLIDE SORTER.)

2 Change this title to your name. Save this Tutorial to your own drive as PowerPoint 1. Click on this box and replace the these instructions with the name of the city where you live. Once you have completed the instructions on one slide, move on to the next slide.

3 Fonts Change the font of the title of this slide to Tahoma with the font size of 50. Add the “shadow” effect to the title. You can do this by going to FORMAT – FONT. Change the title font color to green. Bold the Title.

4 Slide Design Change the “design” of this entire show to any template you would like (FORMAT – SLIDE DESIGN). Change the design of just this Slide (#4) to “Profile.”

5 WordArt Add WordArt to this page below the directions. Have the text be the name of your favorite car. (INSERT – PICTURE – WORDART). Change the color of the text to your favorite color. (Right- click on the WordArt and select FORMAT WORDART). You can edit the shadow by going to VIEW – TOOLBARS – DRAWING.

6 Slide Transitions Set the slide show to transition using the “Uncover Down” setting. Set the speed to medium. Have the slides advance on mouse click. Be sure to Apply to All Slides. (SLIDE SHOW - SLIDE TRANSITION)

7 Inserting Images and Animation Insert a clipart image of a car at the bottom right of this page (INSERT – PICTURE – CLIPART and search for a car). Add animation to the car by Right-Clicking on it and selecting CUSTOM ANIMATION. Make the car move across the page from right to left (Add Effect – Motion Path – Left). Set it to start “after previous.” Insert an Oval Callout above the driver of the car. (INSERT – PICTURE – AUTOSHAPES.) For the text in the box, type “Hello!” Change the color to a light shade of yellow.

8 Changing the Order of Slides. Move slide 4 so it is between slides 5 and 6. (Go to VIEW – SLIDE SORTER. Then click and drag slide 4.

9 Changing Slide Layouts Change the layout of this slide to “Title, Text and Media Clip” in the “Other Layouts” area. (FORMAT – SLIDE LAYOUT) For the media clip, add the Rocky video found in the PowerPoint from Hinton Folder. Have it start when clicked.

10 Action Buttons Insert a “Home” action to the bottom middle of this slide. Set it to take you back to page one. (SLIDE SHOW – ACTION BUTTONS).

11 Headers and Footers Add a footer (VIEW HEADER AND FOOTER) to the slide show that says Created by: (your name). Add the page number and don’t have it show on the 1 st page.

12 Handout Footer Insert a FOOTER with your name and period on it. VIEW – HEADER AND FOOTER – NOTES AND HANDOUTS (TAB) – CHECK THE “FOOTER” BOX.

13 Speaker Notes Add speaker notes to this slide (VIEW –NOTES PAGE). Insert the note “Don’t forget to learn how to add music to a slide.” To get out of the Notes View, click on VIEW – NORMAL.

14 Adding Music Add the “Ringing” sound, found in the PowerPoint from Hinton folder, to this page. (INSERT – MOVIES AND SOUNDS – SOUND FROM FILE). Find the correct folder and double-click on the file named “Ringing.” Have it play automatically. Move the sound icon to the bottom right of this page.

15 Hyperlinks Add a hyperlink to the bottom of this page that links to Mr. Hinton’s school website: http://my.uen.org/myuen/64686. You have to INSERT – TEXT BOX. Then, type “Mr. Hinton’s School Page.” Highlight it, and then click “INSERT – HYPERLINK). Set the screen tip to “A Cool Site!”

16 Web Pages Turn this presentation into a web page. (FILE – SAVE AS HTML). Call it “How to Make a Power Point 2”

17 Backgrounds Change the color of all of the text on this page to yellow. Change the background of this page to “Cartoon” found in the PowerPoint from Hinton folder. (FORMAT – BACKGROUND – FILL EFFECTS – PICTURE). Be sure to lock the aspect ratio of the picture.

18 Creating Handouts Create a “handout” of this slide show that prints 9 slide pages per sheet. (FILE – PRINT). This needs to be turned in. Thanks for using this PowerPoint Tutorial. I hope you learned a lot about PowerPoint by doing this. Mr. Hinton
