2 Fine Arts Program rated Exemplary Students at Del Castillo are enrolled in at least 2 fine arts programs. They have competed in UIL Art and Music Memory, Ballroom Dancing, and Brownsville Herald’s Kids Speak, just to name a few. They also participate in extra-curricular activities, such as, drill team, cheer team, art club, and choir. Other extra-curricular activities are also offered at our campus. Del Castillo Elementary

3 Wellness and Physical Education Programs rated Exemplary Del Castillo Elementary students participate in Red Ribbon Week events every year. They are part of the Coordinated Approach to Children’s Health. They are also fitness gram participants and take part in race competitions. In addition, the campus promotes community health fairs. 4 Community and Parental Involvement rated Exemplary Del Castillo has a strong parental involvement center. Parents attend weekly meetings and activities provided by the campus. In addition, the campus participates in community service projects throughout the school year. Del Castillo Elementary

5 21 st Century Workforce Development rated Exemplary Del Castillo Elementary has taken the initiative to promote different colleges/universities on a weekly basis. In addition, students participate in career days and are very focused on their future educational and career plans. Del Castillo Elementary

6 Dropout Prevention Strategies rated Exemplary Del Castillo Elementary has a high percentage of At-Risk students. However, the At-Risk students have a high attendance rate and minimal retention rates. At-risk students are served by intervention strategies throughout the year. Del Castillo Elementary

7 Second Language Acquisition Program Exemplary At Del Castillo Elementary, ELL students are enriched with cultural awareness experiences, such as Chinese New Year, Hispanic Heritage Month, Cinco de Mayo, MLK Day, Charro Days, Dia de los Niños/ Dia de los Libros, etc.. Furthermore, ELL students receive the supplemental academic support needed to be successful. For example, computer lab time is offered 3 times per week, cognitive strategies are part of the daily routine, Tier II time is provided for reading and math, and the HEB Read 3 program takes place at our campus. 8 Digital Learning Environment rated Exemplary Del Castillo Elementary integrates technology in everyday instruction. Teachers are trained on different software, such as Think Through Math, Project Share, Tango, etc. Del Castillo Elementary

9 Gifted and Talented Program rated Exemplary At Del Castillo Elementary, at least 15% of our student population is served or nominated for the GT program. Our students participate in Destination Imagination, Brainsville, Science Fair, Chess, etc. Del Castillo Elementary
