9 9 Majority of studies indicate that NBCTs make a significantly positive impact on teacher performance and student learning, engagement and achievement. Teachers who pursue certification show significant improvement in their teaching practice, whether they achieve certification or not. All else being equal, teachers who had achieved National Board Certification helped their students achieve larger testing gains than did colleagues without the certification. 24 TAKE ONE! Requirements Complete one of the video-based entries for your certificate area The entry is pre-determined by NBPTS for each certificate area No three-year experience requirement! Submit your Take One! Entry by April 15

25 Funding for Full Candidates Many states provide subsidies of up to $1250 toward the NB Certification fees Many districts provide subsidies or grants for teachers Additional grants and subsidies may be available to you through various organizations Visit the NBPTS website for information on funding resources

Open the Graduate Application Packet ZIP file to preview required forms for enrollment Prepare the graduate application form and FAFSA form (if needed), but do not submit yet Complete and submit the verification form You are now prepared to enroll with an NU Advisor Your verification form ensures that you have accurate knowledge about this program, National Board Certification options, and about cohort schedules for degree completion The NUPTDC will forward your verification form to an NU ADVISOR and you will be contacted for your interview and next steps.

45 About the NBPTS connection National University employs National Board Certified Teachers to teach courses that require knowledge of the NB standards, evidence based inquiry process, and assessment of teaching and learning performances The ten, one month courses in the degree program are carefully scheduled to parallel National Board timelines and requirements which benefits students who choose to be active NB candidates as they produce the portfolio during program of study National University is separate from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, but clearly associated with the standards, tools, resources and assessments National University does NOT certify students as NBCTs. National University will assist and support active NB candidates who want to submit a portfolio or TAKE ONE to the NBPTS for scoring
