The Plan Our objective is to complete a series of underwater search and discovery dives using the scientific method, complete with photographic evidence of findings. Locations of submerged anomalies relative to an exposed tabby structure on the shoreline near the site known as "the chimney," will be noted for future gridding.

Deep South Divers will take a boat to the probable submerged Sams building site and anchor over the site. Weather permitting, dives will take place over a period of three days, and are expected to be completed within two weeks. The dives will include two divers at two hours of bottom time (actual time underwater) per day for a total of 12 hours.

We will scan the bottom of the river as much as six inches into the substrate in order to find possible submerged artifacts. When an artifact is found, it will be observed without disturbing the location and setting of the artifact.

Using an underwater digital camera, the item will be photographed and recorded. In addition, location of boat, anchor point, and search area will be adjusted to maximize the possibility of discovery.

Our findings will be recorded, categorized, and identified if possible. We will also note the approximate location and water depth.

Once all dives are complete we will have a thorough understanding of what exists at the site, as well as the best locations and borders for future discovery/recovery dives. We will create a complete report of our findings for all interested parties belonging to or associated with the Dataw Historic Foundation.

After our debrief, all associated materials, including peripherals, photographs, notes and reports will be turned over to the Dataw Historic Foundation and will be thus considered the property of the Dataw Historic Foundation.
