2 JHU Policy Managers and staff are free to arrange an alternative work schedule that may better satisfy the needs of the supervisor and staff member.

3 Possible Options Flex Time Work Location Job Restructuring

4 Flex Time Staggered work hours/shifts: 7:00am-3:30pm, or 8:00am-4:30pm Longer workdays (4 ten hour days) All fulltime hours need to fall within pay period Job sharing (2 part time positions) Benefits cannot currently be shared

5 Flex Time Reduced Full Time Equivalent (51% to 75%) May help disabled stay in job FMLA, LOA, Long Term Disability, etc. Combinations of any of the above

6 Work Location Work from home Predetermined or Flexible schedule “Behind the scenes” employees (Website) Management of Non-Exempt staff Accountability of unsupervised work hours

7 Work Location Consider Equipment & connectivity costs, & security issues Workers comp considerations Safe work environment

8 Job restructuring Combine/Split jobs into new functions Administrative vs clinical components Complex vs routine components Consider Federal Work study students or PT/casual for less complex or routine components Consider Subcontractors
