Naussac: the demonstrations In 1977 the construction of the dam to make a reservoir was only a project… In fact the dam was designed to regulate the river Loire, through the river Allier so as to provide water to irrigate the fields and also for the nuclear plants. But numerous opponents demonstrated against it. 4. The demolition In spite of this, the village was destroyed, and the cemetery was removed. It was rebuilt in the new village. The former village now lies under 190,000,000 m3 of water.
