3. Italy is 26 th place in the UWTO ranking and presents critical issues in the governance of the tourism sector and its policies to support tourism and environmental sustainability. In order to counteract its loss of competitiveness and regain the leadership, the Strategic Plan for the development of tourism, "Italy 2020"was presented, with various solutions to be realized by 2020.

4. Every action is aimed at diversifying the regional tourism to make it richer in products and high quality services, which should be environmentally sustainable. Sardinia has chosen to invest significant resources in the revitalization and enhancement of its internal territories, with the promotion of its environmental and cultural resources. The envisaged actions relate to the valorization of areas belonging to the Regional Ecological Network and the Parks and Forests managed by the Ente Foreste.
