8 Occupied Renovation Philosophy Shawmut Design and Construction brings a very different attitude to managing construction within occupied environments. We consider ourselves guests in your institution and instill this sense of respect with every subcontractor and individual worker on site. We firmly believe that what goes on “outside the construction fence” is just as important as the actual construction process. We have developed a job site culture with our superintendents and subcontractors that every person needs to demonstrate the highest level of sensitivity to the operational environments.
