The Calgary Association of Parents and School Councils is a city wide parent and public school council association. Our goals are to bring parents and school councils together to network, share, and learn more about educational issues that impact our students in an effort to enhance our abilities to effectively engage at the school, local and provincial level.

CAPSC: ***CAPSC has a stakeholder seat at all public CBE meetings of the board ***We have a Trustee Liaison who attends most of our meetings ***Our Members and Executive are often asked to sit on CBE committees

We strive to provide resources, information and support to all CBE school councils. We offer monthly meetings, a free monthly e-newsletter, web-based resources, and individualized school council support.

In the 2009-2010 school year, we hosted presentations including: - a Q&A with CBE's new Chief Superintendent, Naomi Johnson, - a Q&A with Minister of Education, David Hancock - a forum on the upcoming changes to Special Education, with expert panelists from Alberta Education, the CBE and the Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta - monthly meetings with expert CBE, Alberta Education and community presenters on a wide range of relevant, education related topics.

Get informed for election day! CAPSC will once again be hosting a series of All- Candidate Forums for individuals running for public school Trustees. Hear directly from the candidates in your ward regarding the issues that matter to your children and schools. Further information, including candidates by ward, which ward you are part of and when and where your candidates' forum takes place, is available on our web-site.

Our newsletter is our most direct link with parents and school councils. It’s delivered quickly and easily to your in-box each month. You don’t have to be a member to receive it, and it will point you to newly undated resources on our website. You’ll also have the opportunity to provide feedback to us through our parent surveys.

Membership fees are $50/ year /school council, or $80 for a two year membership / school. These fees support our networking and communication work. Our monthly meetings provide a forum which allow school councils and parents to network and develop a united voice. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of every month at A.E. Cross Junior High at 3445 37th Street S.W., from 7 to 9 p.m.
